I've had quite a few requests asking me how to tell if an item is mage rechargable or if a gem is mage rechargable. I'll post the two messages here -- and any others if you'd like to know.

Firstly, a mage rechargable gem:

>
You remove an uncut diamond from in a slender chalk case lined in crushed velvet.
>loresing Diamond, please understand; I need your purpose, fine as sand.
You sing grimly:

"Diamond, please understand
I need your purpose, fine as sand."

Roundtime: 8 sec.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the uncut diamond in your hand, and you learn something about it...

From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the diamond is as a gem of some kind. As you sing, the diamond seems to resonate with your voice, and you feel it trying to draw power from you. It pulses strongly with the rhythm of your words.

And, for comparison, a non-mage rechargable gem:

You sing grimly:

"Emerald, please understand,
I need your purpose, fine as sand."

Roundtime: 8 sec.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the uncut emerald in your hand, and you learn something about it...

From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the emerald is as a gem of some kind. As you sing, the emerald seems to resonate with your voice, and you feel it trying to draw power from you.

Next, a mage rechargable item with a spell in it:

You sing grimly:

"And now, miniature, do so confide within me,
Whether blind or obvious, the purpose you see."

Roundtime: 12 sec.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the pirate miniature in your hand, and you learn something about it...

You sense a faint aura of magic around the pirate miniature. You also feel a faint drawing sensation from it, as though when its charge is depleted, it may be refilled. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the miniature is to cast a spell or perform some magical purpose.

Lastly, blank a mage-rechargable item:

You sing in Guildspeak:

"O amethyst band that I hold,
Let your purpose now be told!"

Roundtime: 8 sec.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the amethyst band in your hand, and you learn something about it...

You sense a faint aura of magic around the amethyst band. You also feel a faint drawing sensation from it, as though it may be able to hold more power. From the pitch of the vibration you determine that the purpose of the band is to cast a spell or perform some magical purpose. Also, it seems to have some sort of enhancive properties.

In that last example, the very last line also indicates it's an enhancive item -- but that's fairly obvious.

semi off topic yet semi on, I've googled for loresinging because I've recently started a bard and am really in the dark on the whole thing, what little I have learned is from watching others loresing. If anyone knows of a guide to it or a link to a post I'd greatly appreciate it. My apologies for littering the thread.

What does "It could probably handle the imbedding of an entirely new spell, if handled with care." mean? I think it means non-crumbly but non-rechargeable.

Right, use grot potion when it's empty to reimbed it.

Thanks for this post. Loresong messaging has to be one of the best kept game secrets. Even in game, my young bard can't get any strait answers to many of her questions.

While on the subject, maybe someone can answer this. Is there a difference between "you learn nothing new" and "you are unable to learn anything new"?
