Alright, I broke down and bought a PS3 (well, I haven't got it yet because I'm waiting for the WalMart $100 gift card 80GB MGS4 one to come out).
MGS4 looks like it is going to be damn good. Even if it isn't, I know Final Fantasy XIII will be. Are there any other good JRPG or normal RPG games out for PS3 yet?

Eh, try out the Suikoden series, from PS-PSII. Well worth the loss in graphics. Heavenly Sword is supposed to be good, albeit short. Aside from that, a lot of the best RPGs out are still currently quite playable on a run of the mill Xbox, and used ones go anywhere from 20-60 dollars.
I'm seriously considering buying one to avoid the download nonsense with the 360. KOTOR, Fable, and Jade Empire were all pretty great for what they were.

Absolutely nothing for good RPGs for Xbox 360 or PS3. Sure, you can play PS2 games on the PS3, but why bother. Keep the PS2 hooked up for that, so you're not killing your HD space.
GTA4 is good, if you like those sort of games. Assassin's Creed is good too, but very short. Same with Heavenly Sword (Though i made the mistake and played AC before HS and thought HS sucked because of it). I'm waiting for FFXIII, but looks like it got pushed back again. And so did Assassin's Creed II.
Next gen systems are a very big disappointed for game content.

Yeah, I haven't owned a console since Super Nintendo. I almost bought a PS1 for FFVII, but then it came out for the PC so I never had to. SNES had some ass kicking RPGs, hell, even emulating them now they are still good.
Back originally when I was looking at a PS3 for backwards compatibility, I made a list of games I probably should look for cheap, I'll add Suikoden to the list:
Tactics Ogre
Kartia?
Threads of Fate
Vandal Hearts?
Vagrant Story
Valkyrie Profile
Front Mission 4? (PS2)
Xenogears?
Xenosaga? (PS2)
Xenosaga II? (PS2)
Star Ocean: Second Story
Star Ocean: Till the end of time (PS2)
Dragon Quest VIII (PS2)
Arc the Lad 4 (PS2)
Dark Cloud 2 (PS2)
Disgaea (PS2)
La Pucelle: Tactics? (PS2)
Suikoden: Tactics? (PS2)
Gladius (PS2)
Suikoden III (PS2)
Suikoden IV? (PS2)
Shadow Hearts (PS2)
Shadow Hearts: Covenant (PS2)
Wild Arms 3 (PS2)
Final Fantasy XII (PS2)
Final Fantasy X (PS2)
Final Fantasy X-2 (PS2)
Growlanser: Generations (PS2)
Grandia
Grandia III?
Phantom Brave? (PS2)
I guess the other issue is finding out if the PS2 ones are playable with the software emulator on the 80GB PS3 I am getting.

Final Fantasy VIII, while not the best game ever, is VERY underrated. It's a gorgeous game with a decent plot, and a rather entertaining mini-game that goes on indefinately, as far as I know. (That underwater strange ball throwing/kicking game) If you haven't played it, add it to the list.

Oh, and Brigandine. Only really worthwhile if you're a fan of strategic stuff like FF tactics, but it should be somewhere around 5-15 dollars for the English version.

I don't agree much with above poster, but he's right on the money with Brigandine. I wish they'd make a new one it kicks so much ass.

Vagrant Story is awesome. PS3 can't play it. Makes me sad.

Vagrant Story is PS1 though, I thought all PS3s could play all PS1 games no problem, I thought it was PS2 games they had trouble with in certain cases (unless you got one of the old hardware emulation solution PS3s). That sucks.
I seem to remember seeing FFVIII somewhere, but it was probably a long time ago. Is it PS1 or PS2?
Brigandine is a good one, but I was under the impression that it was almost impossible to find, like Valkyrie Profile (although I have that for PSP, so I really don't need to get it again).

I can't seem to play most PS1 games. My PS3 is one of the latest according to Sony. I have an 80 GB HD too.

Front Mission 4 (PS2) was pretty good, but Front Mission 3 (PS1) was way better, despite the clunkier graphics. FM3 had a diverging storyline, with each of the 2 main branches pretty much being longer than the whole of FM4. There's a pretty fun pseudo-hacking element to the game, too, where you can burrow into various sites to obtain gear, perform recon, etc.
If you're into tactical strategy games, either is worth checking out.
