As of yesterday it's official!

I'm so excited!
Just as I landed a great job and she has too. Couldn't have come at a more perfect time.
It's insane I can't believe it, I'm going to be a dad.

If it's a guy he's going to be called Destructor.

In all seriousness, this is the best thing that's ever happened in my life.
Just had to share

If it's a boy we're naming him Anthony after my dad and a girl, Julie after my late sister.
I can't contain myself.

Congrats!

If it's a male baby, my suggestion is Magnus Robotkiller. Most because that's what my BIL wanted for a son's name before him and my sister became childfree :/

You going to find out the sex when she goes for an ultrasound or do you prefer being surprised.

Congrats man, how old are you?

I'm 29 mate. My Girlfriend, Shelly is 23.
I was getting a bit concerned about 30. I want to be a young dad.
It was awesome having an older dad though.

Yo: That is truly a boon. I am happy for you.

I want to go to the baby shower so I can watch Destructor rain storms of deadly diaper juice on the unsuspecting masses. Man. That is a damn good name.

Just pretend it made sense, and congratulations. That's awesome :D

Sweet, I am married and 24. I think I want to have kids right around 30 so that I can enjoy my 20's without looking for a babysitter, and not be too old to play sports with the kids. Best of luck.

Pick a name and stick with it.
Don't keep changing it's name. That would really fuck with it's head.
Hope everything works out for the three of you.
Good luck.

It's insane, it's like mums were in hibernation waiting for this. They've gone totally crazy. I didn't realize they had so much baby crap.
I feel like I've just taken a passenger seat. The women are out all the time buying things I didn't know I needed.
I'll update when I can. :)

Grats on the baby.

Since you're not married, who's last name does the kiddo get?

Please please please please ask and read up on what its like being a parent and dont be afraid to admit when you've made a mistake or when you're in over your head. Its not a perfected science, but there's no need in reinventing the wheel either.

Dont make baby jesus cry by being one of those parents that make you wish people would have to pass a test before being allowed to have kids.

And dont forget about your g/f. Having a child is wonderful but its only a part of the family equation. Live the example that you want to show to your child on what a loving family should be like.

Given from someone who'll be married 15 years this August (married at 23) and has a 5 year old. Being a father is the coolest experience a guy can have. :) (and also the toughest)

Biggest advice. When all needs have been met and the lil fucker still wants to scream like at a death metal concert just put em down and walk away.

Relax while you can.

Eventually the womenfolk will start asking that you DO THINGS FOR THE BABY!* As the pregnancy gets further along, this asking will become insistant demanding as the "I'mtheonepregnantnotyouyoubastardmalepig" guilt sets in and you keep your willowy shape and she balloons into a hippo.

* This can mean getting her a pbj+pickle sandwich and hot fries at 3am to spending 20hrs at the mall looking at every single baby item ever made in existance.

This...is a very smart man. Being 22weeks along now myself, START ON THE BABY ROOM ASAP. If she's bugging you about it now, I'd get her involved while she's still able to move semi-heavy objects around and is able to assist.

My husband has dragged his feet for so long now he's likely going to have to do everything himself.

And you might get lucky...I haven't hadany crazy cravings....and pb & pickles together is NASTY (I tried it as a joke recently).

Congrats though! Wait until you can feel the baby move, it is the craziest thing. Clearly she'll feel it before you can but its really a life-changing event because it solidifies the reality that there's a life in there.

Does anyone else get a picture of Charlie from Lost with this kind of news?

I dunno, maybe I've been watching too many of the early season episodes as of late.

What the FUCK is that FUCKING show about?!? This is the first season I have been semi following it and I can't make heads or tails of it. This angers me but somehow makes me watch it even more. I hate the writers.

I caught the last four episodes of this past season (the fourth) and it got me hooked enough to start at season 1. Luckily, my roommate has all of the first three seasons on DVD, so I'm working on them during summer repeats.

It's really intricate - and I'm loving all the literature/philosophy references. I mean, with characters named Locke, Rousseau, Hume...come on.

Someone make a caption detailing the baby's worried expression towards his mom's dreary appearance.

Maybe it would be best summed up by tshirthell.com's famed "Mommy Drinks Because I Cry"?

Don't take this the wrong way, Skeeter, but that pic made me roffle for a long time. I promise to throw a family pic up after the first few weeks to show how its going for us. :D Provided my husband doesn't throw himself off a bridge with late night crying and waking up at 5am to go to work.

Breast is best.
Had a seminar on breastfeeding this afternoon (spookily enough) and western countries have seen a sharp decline in the amount of women breastfeeding, despite well established benefits for mum and baby (and dad too, if you include the fact that he doesnt have to get up in the middle of the night to feed the bairn) ;)

The point of the picture was to show how crap-tastic no sleep is. No offense taken, I know we both look like shit.

We know the benefits, and I tried to talk her into it, but it was awful for her, she had tons of swelling and was just in agony with the pump and the baby. It's not my boobie so I couldn't put up much of an argument.
