I sold a boat to a friend in good faith two years ago. Nothing on paper (never doing that again) Haven't received a dime. I sold it to him cheap as shit as well.

Anyways with my current shit storm that is following me I want my money. I can't get in contact with him... my best shot will be to find him in a bowling league I think.

IF I can't find him and talk this over amicably should I file suit in small claims/civil? I'm not worried about the friendship as I haven't spoken to him in over a year but I know little about how much of a pain in the ass a civil case over this could turn out to be.

Hell if they would just give it back in decent shape I'd be happy.

Is the boat registered in your name? Say it was stolen :)

Rofl.

Good point tho...maybe that's a possibility (cheaper one) but oh so evil.

Worse by the day. I really pissed someone/something off or I'm just on the streak of negatives in the line of infinity of all time.
No idea what you could have done to deserve this...

Dont boats have title, do you still have it?

WTF why did you not get the purchase agreement in writing?

Just go reposess the boat and lock that bitch down until he pays.

PS. If you give him advanced warning by approaching him away from home/boat location then you'll give him a chance to hide the boat... meaning you'll have to beat on that ass to get the boat/money.

Find out where he lives, drive up with your truck with the hitch on and be ready to tow that baby off. (assuming you sold it with/its on a trailer).

I guess the real question is what kind of boat is it?

22 foot walk around cuddy cabin with a 225 evinrude, two in floor live wells, scuba tank racks, bimini top, gps, ffishfinder and a bullet hole. Heheh.

Yeah I've got the titles to trailer and boat. I needed the boat moved fast (old property) before mother in law came and sold it to him quickly and cheaply.

I was a dumbass for no purchase agreement in writing or bill of sale going with the "good friend" route. Things kept coming up... new baby... wedding... another baby... Christmas... etc that he didn't have the money and I just well I try and catch ya next time etc.

Oh well lesson learned.

Depending on how much you sold it for in good faith, you can take him to court. But it will be a tough case.

But as you have stated, you have the title and everything still, go get it back and claim you know nothing.

For the record the guy is pure good old boy and goes by the name of "Little John".

All 6'7 350lbs of him. Actually I met him about 8 years ago when we worked together as bouncers.
