I am looking to exchange a teaching of the arashan rune for a lorae'tyr-abyran'sa rune. It must be an abyran'sa, no substitutes.

Not sure if there's any left out there, but I've never had such a bargaining chip.

That's a hell of a bargaining chip, IMO.

Best rune out there IMO. Abyran'sa is nice, but requires a fuck ton of demonology to summon, even inside of a chamber. Arashan does not, and is arguably more practical.

Can you learn runes without getting it from another player?

Yes, from an NPC. Otherwise, no. For better or worse, that is the system they've given us.

Otherwise, you've a random chance to summon any demon from a single valence by making one of three runes that are common knowledge, or obtaining a demon specific runestone from one possessing the knowledge.

Edited to add:

They've also been given out during events as prizes for raffles and such.

A fuck ton is exactly what the would be receiver of the rune has.

I've advocated for a one time choice at guild mastery combined with illusion mastery and a certain number of demon ranks, and this would come with no teaches. Certainly not easy to attain, but attainable nonetheless. I've also argued for "mastery" to mean actual mastery, meaning no time limit on illusions.

Overall though, in terms of game play, I'm now very happy I didn't get what I wanted at WoE in terms of the runes, this was a much better way to receive one. The RP at WoE was subpar and I was frustrated from the start when only two of us even showed up to the event with demons, the library tour was boring, and many who won had no idea what they were winning.

Oh, and if you didn't know, Corientha (Oscuro) gave out shien'tyr specific runes to everyone who showed up to any of the events last night and on Saturday, I'm not the only one who got something, but she did only teach me the arashan. The shadowling and darkling specific runes are new as well.
