http://www.play.net/images/transparent.gifhttp://www.play.net/images/transparent.gif (http://www.play.net/forums/help/closed_topic.asp?forum=102&category=1&topic=1)Summoned spirit servants will now be realm appropriate. That is, you will no longer be seeing snow spirits on Teras, sun spirits in the depths of Zul Logoth, or any other equally odd combinations. Any spirit servant can still be summoned anywhere with the use of an appropriate runestone.

I wish they could be somewhat deity attuned as well. I'd like ocean and tidal spirits, and would settle for lake spirits, as a Charl worshipper.

I'd love to see deity aligned spirit also. <3 Eorgina

What spirit servants would Eorgina generate, boring nondescript spirits? vaguely malevolent spirits?

Meh I wish they'd make spirit servants more useful...like mana storing or you know at least have them hold more.

Deal, as so long as demons can pick up disarmed weapons. You can keep LKing corpses and sending out screamers when you die, though.

Yeah, either of those would be nice.

My servant is really useful when I'm hunting alone but just having them around, like group hunting or whatever, isn't really worth the mana.

Nilandia keeps a forest spirit servant around with her all the time, mostly as an RP thing to express her connection with the spirits of her forest home.

Mechanically, the LK and disarm retrieval are very nice. With 60 ranks of summoning lore, my spirits last almost 45 minutes in between casts, and keeps last 20 minutes. Spending 5 mana every 45 minutes, in my opinion, is not that big of a problem.

Can't you easily summon those with the appropriate runestone?

As an aside, do you play the Charl aligned cleric on Teras? I ask because my rogue is Charl aligned and I thought maybe we could have a RP masteurbation-fest.

No, my priest has a home in Ta'Vaalor and hunts in Ta'I.

And yes, you can, but I hate carrying around extra runestones for stupid shit.

Eh, runestones for spirit servant last a very long time. I cast and re-cast until I get one I like, and it takes me weeks to go through just one.

Yeah I'm always a little shocked when the stone finally poofs, I know I don't have to buy them very often.

Yup. Right after one of the spell updates I wondered at one point if they weren't working properly and never crumbling, simply because they last so long.

My cleric isn't even yet 25 so the mana cost vs. the benefit is not worth it.

This is my problem: I consider summoning lore a waste of TPs. What does it help?

It is really only useful in increasing the number of targets 111 can hit, if you use 111, locate in terms of how far you can locate someone, bolting 118, and 218.

These are all spirit circles spells, which are, IMO, ancillary to cleric based spells, which mainly rely on Religion and Blessings. Not to mention, two of them are bolt spells, which require Spell Aiming, which some clerics don't even bother training in. Summoning only factors into the activation time on 319 (who cares?), and has a threshold value for BLESSing the various tiers in 325. For that last purpose alone, I would recommend Summonings up to 15 ranks (necessary for Chrism gems), but no further. What's the point in continuing to pour TPs into Summoning lore?

That's kind of my path. I'm pushing the summoning lore up good enough for to successfully do Chrisms but past that, I can't justify putting in more points until much, much later on in my cleric's training.

It's a bit different because Nilandia's an empath. She doesn't have religion lore to worry about, and for her training path, summoning is far more preferable to blessings to my mind.

I trained in summoning to add targets of fire spirit splash damage, increase locating range, boost web, narrow the locations to land with 130, extend cast and keep durations for spirit servants, add power to wither and choose which herbs to grow. The other benefits are nice, but I'm thoroughly addicted to those in particular.

Yeah, religion and blessings are more important for my cleric for hunting (smite, etc) and utility bonuses.

:yeahthat:

It just has too many benefits for my empath to not train in it(especially pre-wither release, lack of bones = screwed for hunting).

Summoning lore is easily my favorite lore in the game. 90 ranks FTW. The 125 boosts are pretty amazing too.

For Eorgina spirits, I would love to see like some stylized flames following me around.
