Emergency Calls Only

I was enjoying a fine sporting event last weekend, when I went to call someone and make fun of them for not being there. Unfortunately, I was told by my phone "Emergency Calls Only". I shrugged it off and forgot about it, then noticed it was still going as I was leaving and restarted my phone, fixing it.

Well it happened again, only not to me but to two other people. Something going on I don't know about yet or is this just some stupid phone os glitch?

Sounds like you were out of coverage range. (For your carrier, some other carrier has coverage, so they'll cover you if you dial 911)

Definitely not out of coverage range, btw. (I was at the Indy500)

Might have been an overload of calls to the towers nearby. Usually they pump them up for big events, but they could have forgotten or had one go down.

I know that happens to people who don't pay their bill.

There might have been a billing error or else they had to hold your account to check into/fix something.
