I'm debating buying a Nintendo DS just for this. Haven't played it in like 10 years, but easily in my top three favorite games ever.

Preview (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EZj_GKuoRmc)

I just wish the voice acting would stop sucking - I haven't played a Square Enix game yet where I thought the voice acting was good.

I have one, and for sure picking that up. I remember sitting down and beating it for SNES in one 17 hour session. I would honestly say it is my favorite in the series.

Voice acting sounds fine to me. Yuri Lowenthal kicks ass. Then again, I'm not sure he fits Cecil's character--but I did just play Tales of the Abyss, so I think of Luke fon Fabre when I think of him.

But dude, you need reasons to buy a DS?

The World Ends With You.
Phoenix Wright. (4 games! O shit!)
Phantom Hourglass.
Final Fantasy III.
Valkyrie Profile DS.
Metroid Prime: Hunters

There. Now you have 10.

EDIT:

Holy shit. One sitting?

You know what's even better? A full new graphical remake of Dragon Warrior 4 (DQ4) is coming out on the DS. I'm more exited about that.

Right on the heels of Tactics A2, on top of everything else.

Also, man, I didn't think that game could be beat in 17 hours. I had it clocked at over 100 hours on the SNES, and I never left it running or anything for longer than 4-5 minutes for a bathroom break. Granted, I did the side stuff in the underground and did the tricks with the hover craft. Oh and the moon stuff and made sure everyone was level 99. But damn, isn't that how everyone should play an RPG!?

Yea, I picked up A2 as well, storyline blows, but the game play is fun.

I can't play any FF games without being on an emulator with x9 speed settings.

I can beat the game in fucking no time at all.

I will say I spent easily over 60 hours on the SNES on each 4, 5, and 6.

Anything after 6 sucks horrendous donkey balls and I stand by that statement.

When I hear the opening themes to FF4 and FF6 I get goosebumps but not as much as Secret of Mana, which of course, is the best game in the universe.

Oh... I like more than 9... I was just saying post 6.

7 was groundbreaking... even if in retrospect it doesn't remain as cool.

7, 9 and 10 were very good.

8 was made of epic fail. And 12. And 11 doesn't count.

WTF CHRONO TRIGGER

FF7 was groundbreaking in the sense that it drew in more than your RPG fans. FF became a franchise instead of a non-linear series at that point. But since 12, they are making them all combine. Linking characters from one game to the next, which is finally going in a right direction. FF8-X² have all been horrific failures in my opinion. Sure some of them were good and had memorable moments, but more often than not, you're just defending the game from assholes like me who say they all suck.

But FFIV, VI and Trigger are the shit!

WTF CHRONO TRIGGER

Chrono Trigger rules hard too.

Frog's theme is so fucking badass; i want to have the babies of whoever composed it.

I've never played Chrono Trigger.

Whoa whoa FF7 and 8 were awesome. didn't like 9, 10 was good.

Never played 6 but I might pick up a DS for that and some other games.

I guess I'm the only one who liked Chrono Cross more than Trigger. Oh well.

You never played FF6, so you will be blinded by graphics at this point on.

I beat FFIV (Chronicles version) in 16 hours a few months back. Zeromus was a bitch of a hard boss though -- way harder than what I remembered.

The musical score from Chrono Trigger was superbly awesome. I remember buying the original SNES version when I was in 5th grade for $80. Best game ever.

FFV made me want to kill myself. The storyline was awful, and the main boss's name was X-Death. WTF.

I didn't particularly enjoy VII, VIII, IX, X, or XII. The music from VII was pretty good, and I <3 Angela Aki, but the storylines are nothing compared to IV or VI.

yea, that was the main reason I bought a PS3.

Since E3.

Ah fuck, Like a week ago it was announced... Shit, I totally regret buying a PS3 now.

Revalos
07-23-2008, 11:08 PM
Yeah, I couldn't believe that either.

I don't really regret getting a PS3 since it has the compatibility with my PSP and a built in Blu-Ray...but I will admit that FFXIII was above both of those in reasons why I wanted the system. Oh well, if it was ONLY coming out for the XBOX I'd probably shoot myself.

The Ponzzz

Very true. I'd end it all, hahahah.

Renian

It also seems to read dual layer discs (Rogue Galaxy, God of War I and II) much, much better. None of that disc read error BS.

Also media server compatibility ftw.

On a whim, I went out and bought a DS and FFIV today.

I really dislike Kain's dialog so far for some reason. The musical scores are pretty awesome though.

This is ripped and on emulation somewhere . . . right?

Stretch
07-25-2008, 06:44 AM
I know that the Jap version is at least available in ROM version if you have a DS emulator.

The quality is fairly shitty unfortunately - tons of static and lagging.

Renian
07-25-2008, 11:13 AM
The US version is out on a ROM as well.
