Pretty easy to say having never been to prison. The system only fucks things up worse. All it is is a way to hook up with other criminals and fuck up worse. There's no emphasis on rehabilitation at all. It facilitates criminal activity, not deter it.

Getting caught in the city for doing crimes is much easier when the cops patrol your streets regularly, whereas getting caught in the suburbs, where you obviously grew up - not so easy, unless you're dumb enough to drive while doing it.

I find it hard to believe you think A) everyone in prison deserves to be there (at least, moreso than other, free people), and B) that while in prison, they should have no chance at rehabilitation, but rather, should just be treated like the scum they so obviously are.

Yes, jail is punishment, to an extent. Yes, it usually does suck. Yes, you can go there to be a better criminal. I also know people that went to jail on purpose, just to get food and shelter, or because they're were in jail so long, they can't adapt to the outside so they do a crime and stand there and wait to get arrested.
