View Full Version : the need to share sexual preference on ooc?

I'm baffled, why do people constantly feel the need to shout about their sexual preference on the OOC channel?

[OOC]-Arcenciel: "The nedum vereri looks expectantly at you. You feel your resistance melt away! You contemplate turning str8!"
[OOC]-Arcenciel: "Warded off! Still gay!"

I just don't get this urge to tell people all the time?

Why does it offend you? People talk about random ass shit on there, some of it is good some of it is bad. Like the old saying; You have to take the good with the bad.

Take it or leave it.

That's just how gay people are (not all of them, just the flaming ones). They're as gay as a sperm covered rainbow and they're gonna do whatever it takes to make sure everyone knows it whether they like it or not. A lot of people would probably have much less of a problem with gay people if they would just stfu about how gay they are for once.

>moderate ooc list
You ask the PsiNet to list the moderators of the ooc channel.
The following people are moderators for the OOC channel:
Eoghain Belnia Iomelindi Zimzum
Starkly
Total: 5

Other gay people who are not moderators: Desorceri, Arc-whatever, Tayre, Gerbill, and every other gay person on PsiNet.

I cannot tell you why Arc-whatever said what he said, but I can say that my very limited conversations with him left me with a good impression of him.

Some people broadcast their sexual preferences in ways that can be inappropriate. My opinion is that this is generally due to a repression, or making up for lost time, an overcompensation for the shame they felt (or feel) about who they are. Most grow through this phase with time. Others enjoy, at some level, the reactions they get, absorbing the positive feedback and laughing at the negative.

I've been guilty of this from time to time.

I've known a few people for whom the internet was a testing ground for themselves; the anonymity helped them to 'come out' there before coming out in their real lives. In some cases, this may also play into why people broadcast their preferences.

In general, however, I suspect that this kind of behavior is a response to a perceived freedom and safety in some social settings that the person does not feel exists for them elsewhere.

Sean2, feel free to shower me with your attention all you like, but that picture of my handsome mug does not belong to you. Remove it.

I dont want to post here, but I am anyway because I'm silly, but here's my two P.

Arcenciel seems like a much better name then say.. Bigthumper, or Gruntbag, or KingKong (yes I saw that one recently).

Re: Things said on OOC? I tune in very rarely, and when I do I often find myself wondering why people speak. But the fact is they can, they have the right too, and there's nothing I can do about it. If I dont like whats being said, I ignore it, its not specifically said to me often at all, so why put my nose in a conversation I have nothing to do with.

I've heard guys on OOC discussing their gf's and how they prefer teh pussy, and how they rather get a bj from so and so's mom.. And I've seen girls discussing how they prefer pussy to dick. I've also seen guys saying how their bf is a great sucker. Whats the difference? Its got nothing to do with me, my lifestyle, or my situation. Why pick a sentence or two, out of a whole lot of crap, and bitch about it.. really?

So he's gay, he has no issue with others knowing about it, and he found something funny. You arent, dont want to know, and didnt. Get over it, why make such a big deal? Why not respond with someone just as funny, and heterosexually orientated?

Hm, I rambled.

BTW. I'm bi-curious, and a Scorpio. ;):club:

I pop on to OOC chat to ask questions usually relating to some aspect of PSInet, and rarely some obscure profession related question. More often than not it doesn't go well. How people could stay permanently tuned is beyond me. However, people say they wouldn't still be playing without PSInet there to entertain them, and while I sometimes see PSInet chatting habits hinder RP, i'm glad others find enjoyment in its use.

I love psinet chat, and its not because I find the chat particularly interesting, its that at least SOMETHING is going on while im performing the more mundane gemstone tasks. Really there are times when if psinet wasnt up i would be fletching arrows or grinding down cubes for hours on end with no one to talk to. Its immature but any time you open a public forum with no real restrictions things are going to go in that direction, people are immature in general.

I don't use psinet..but I find that's true everywhere. I know people that tell everyone they come into contact with that they are gay. I don't understand that. Straight is the normative function. Those who stray from it might sometimes feel the need to assert their identity so as not to be assumed something they're not. Basic sociology.
