mk running through otf obviously per trip i get atleast 1 ambush from a scout per run to the ducts. now what im not getting is how i go from a DS like this in the open in defensive

AS: +409 vs DS: +550 with AvD: +23 + d100 roll: +7 = -111
A clean miss.
to:
An Ithzir scout fades into view while striking!
An Ithzir scout swings a gleaming steel broadsword at you!
AS: +412 vs DS: +335 with AvD: +30 + d100 roll: +5 = +112
... and hits for 2 points of damage!
Attack bumps an eyebrow.
That was far too close!
im level 80....are 9 levels of pushdown really enough to give me a 215 DS drop for ambush? im more than fully doubled in perception being a rogue with 170 ranks in perception and have 164 ranks for ambush which is maxed to the gills for my level.
or am i missing another factor there?
