With a fixskills coming up soon I was wondering what armor would be best for my rogue. Hunts in the open in OTF and I have in 4x hauberk now. Would it be best for him to go into 6x full plate? Also wearing full plate i assume his dodge DS will drop some? If so can someone tell me how much. Thanks.

MBP and a helm?

I hated being in the open period in OTF. Your TD, even in plate, sucks unless you know enough magic to wear the good spells.

You're a rogue and an archer. FFS HIDE! Thats what rogues do best!

If you want to wear plate, and stand toe to toe with Ithzir, Griffins, and Constructs, be a warrior.

Honestly the only problems i ever had in OTF are those damn webs. I forget to 417 them and try to wonder off. Bad idea. It is sad watching my DS go from close to 700 to barely over 200 because of the web. Eh i could hide. Let me post his training to see what i would change heh

I could drop first aid and survival. I do like the spells, but i may drop them down to 425, I can say I am really hurting on DS now. Also if i will be going hiding I will probably drop my armor ranks also. I don't see a need for 140 ranks if i will be hiding.

MBP and a helm?

MBP and a helm would give him the hinderances of fullplate, but not the protection on the arms/legs.

I'd give you the exact opposite advice that Ganalon did.

Walk around in the open and wtfpwn everything. Hiding takes too long for not enough benefit.

As an aside I would recommend picking up 107 ASAP.

Would there be any loss of dodge DS going from hauberk to plate? I assume there will be, but since i will probably stay in the open i assume plate if the best option.

I don't think so. Not much anyways. I recall commenting on DS vs plate and brig at some point, and I think at some point I found out there was very very little difference. Like 5-10 DS one way or the other.

Was very minimal. And you are trained for both right now, would be easy enough to check and see.

Defensive Strength

Dodge is the least stance dependant of the three skills, only having a 25% reduction in DS when in an offensive stance. The formula is as follows:

Dodge Ranks + (Agility Bonus) + (Intuition Bonus / 4) = Base Dodge

While:

Stance Modifier = 0.75 + (Stance / 4)

Shield Penalty is 0.8 with a small shield, 0.7 with a medium shield, 0.6 for a large shield, and 0.5 for a tower shield. Armor Hindrance is half the Action Penalty subtracted in percentage, so metal breastplate (Action Penalty of -20) would be -10% or 0.9.

The resulting formula:

Base Dodge × Stance Modifier × Shield Penalty × Armor Hindrance = Dodge DS

Note: There is a 50% bonus to this DS if the attacker is using a ranged weapon.
Evading

Dodge skill also aids a character in avoiding an attack entirely. The higher the character trains in dodge, the higher his chances of dodging the attack. A character singled in Dodge has approximately a 5% chance of dodging an attack outright in stance offensive. A character double trained in Dodge has a 10% chance, and tripled has a 15%. The exact values also depend on stance, Agility bonuses, Intuition bonuses, encumbrance, and spells such as Mass Blur. There is no available formula to determine the exact chance that an attack will be evaded, but character level plays into this greatly. Also, ranged weapons and bolts are harder to dodge than a melee attack, even though there's a DS bonus against such attacks (See the Defensive Strength section above).
