[Locksmith, Backroom]
The backroom of the locksmith's shop is stark, and lit by a single tallow candle. A blob of wax secures the candle atop a locked case that provides the only seating in the uncomfortable room. A tall cabinet secured with a sturdy padlock occupies the far wall. You also see the somebody disk, a battered casket, Larton, a dimly-lit doorway and a wax-stained counter with some stuff on it.

I think of the locksmith in terms of getting the gems/items out of the boxes rather than the silver. I just hope there's a decent rock in there to make it worthwhile.

But yeah, I agree that the fees are too high.

CrystalTears

They're intentionally high. I've heard GMs say it quite a bit that they're made that high to encourage you to seek out players to open your boxes and not to rely on NPCs.

Heh I looked for two days for a locksmith. Fuck the gems, they need to bring that down to a decent level so you can actually get 2x as many coins as you spend. At the least.

They might as well take out the town smith if they charge that much.

I don't see it happening, is all I'm saying. ROGUES have been asking to have the costs come down and they've said no.

Yet still a problem.

Absolutely still is. If they want us to find PCs to open boxes, maybe they should advertise and grow the population so it's possible.

I spent a couple weeks begging people to bring me boxes when I reactivated my rogue a few months back. I needed them for reps in the guild.. all told i opened maybe 20 players boxes and the rest I had to get on my own. People complain about the NPC locksmith, but refuse to hold on to a box in order to find one. I kind of understand this in some hunting areas like OTF where boxes drop every other creature and stacking 15 boxes gets to be a pain, but I know of at least 4 smiths there that can handle OTF boxes. I also have taken my rogue to the landing and advertised picking service over a 3 or 4 hour period and only had one person take me up on it. Keep slooting your boxes.. keep getting raped..stop complaining about.

I usually hold on to boxes, but sometime you just can't. There are locksmiths and there are boxes, just not enough of each that they always end up in the same place at the same time.

Part of the problem is, people don't take the time to get to know each other anymore. A lot of players have pocket rogues (wizards, clerics, healers etc) but, many don't. Or accounts are often shared, so no need to seek out help. I have had people ask me in whispers after I unlock their boxes if they can contact me again, which of course is always fine by me. No hurt in asking, the worst is they will say no. Well, ok, guess they could up and kill you...but unlikely.
