Forging Opps

So I have made a bunch of weapon hilts and i have mixed my best parts with the not so good ones. Is there an easy way to tell which are the best parts ones? I was thinking I could just appraise them but not sure that is always a true reading.

I had some weapon heads that I appraised as less than best parts but the pawn broker gave me 7k for them.

I don't see any reason why appraise wouldn't tell you if they were elegant or superior.
