Distinction between the Off-Topic and Social Forums

The social forum is really to get to know one another; to let us know about something you did that you enjoyed or stories about yourself that you wish to share, or to just let us know how you feel.

Off-Topic will continue to be for discussing news, or debating issues that are on your mind, as well as asking for information.

Where there may be some overlap, is when seeking advice. Generally, discussion concerning personal advice should be put in the Social Forum, like if you have a problem and want to know what the best way to go about resolving it is, put it in the Social Forum.
Otherwise, if you're seeking general advice, like advice on what car or computer best suits you, then that should stay in Off-Topic.

To put this all into context, the main purpose of the Social Forum is to address the fact that as a community, we've grown to the point where many of us want to get to know one another on a personal level. The number of social related discussions in the Off-Topic forum has shadowed virtually all other types of discussion, necessitating its own forum, and so it is now being given its own forum.

Finally, Staff Members Ilvane and Edaarin have been put in charge of moderating the Social Forum.
