Yeah, which orbs do you keep?
What do you use them for?
Uses:
Infusing mage rechargables with charge item
Making chrisms
Other 325 things..
sorcerer stuff? or is that just plain gems?
What is the ideal value for said uses. I know the higher the value the longer the orb lasts for recharging items with 517. But you really don't need it to last too long.
Chrisms have a min value, and it works right? Don't need a 10k orb for that, just wasting profit.
And all the orb uses go off the base value of what its worth, not the value with your trading and what not I assume.
So is your best orb value between like 5-8k? More is just waste? Or is something lower acceptable.

For a chrism gem it must of orb quality and worth at least 3001 silvers. Each tier of 325 goes up from 1 silver for a Silver to Gold gem, then 1001 for Brimstone, 2001 for Nexus, 3001 for Chrism and 4001 for Intercession.
I make tons of chrisms with my cleric now, since they changed them to give back exp when raised with a chrism gem. And, I've used the Silver to Gold several times for silver wands and silver bars from zapped boxes, but mostly to mess around with. And I've made a few Intercession gems when asked, but by far, chrism gems. Which kind of suck, because for the most part, you need to use diamonds or emeralds. You get some pearls, rubies, black opals, blue and pink sapphires that are worth enough. Most folks are happy to replace the gem.

The Krakiipedia page on 325 is very helpful. Has a page for each tier with all the requirements and such.
I haven't blessed a whole lot of gems, but small and tiny pearls seem to have the highest success rate - though their value isn't usually enough to do some of the higher-tiered blessings.
For whatever reason, very few of the diamonds and emeralds I try to bless seem to work.
Have been meaning to do some testing with silver-to-gold on silver slabs to see if it's worth the while.

i usually keep a sack of orbs for chrisms sake, in case someone needs one or to replace one used on me.
when my collection gets too big i usually sell a sack of them. i sell all the ones worth less than 9k off the bat.
but i am under the impression that the higher value the orb/chrism, the better your mind retains the experience and the faster you recover from death fatigue.

Orbs can also be used for message boxes. Any gem will work, but only for one use before it crumbles. Orb gems allow for more than one message to be put in a single gem.

Is there any proof that a orb worth more than 3001 gives a better chrism?

Not everyone uses PsiNet, and sometimes it's nice to have it around for RP's sake. Sides, I paid less than 100k to get mine in the EG digging game. :D

The % of experience retained is based solely on the Cleric's Blessing lore. However, higher price gems DO provide quicker recovery from Death's Sting when used as Chrisms.
