He got off damned easy imo.. but after spending nearly 20 hours just in the 200 person booking room at county I know he's going to experience some justice. Scary mother fuckers in there.

8 months, 5 yrs probation, and like 500 hours community service.
How bad was the friend hurt though? That car looked like shit, not sure how Nick didn't get hurt.

He was seriously hurt. Articles say he will spend the rest of his life in nursing homes and not be able to function by himself again. Was 22 years old in the Marines, I believe.

He got off ridiculously easy. Dumb kid should have gotten more jailtime for destroying someone's life like that, imho.

I know the father is campaigning for him to die in jail.

I dunno about dying in jail, but I agree that he should have gotten more time.

Nick didn't get hurt because he was wearing a seatbelt, his friend was not. I'll be the jerk in this thread and say that I think the friend is just as stupid and responsible as Nick is for what happened.
While Nick should get more time in jail for what happened, it should be solely on the basis of the fact that his continual habit of wreckless driving was endangering bystanders and other drivers. The fact that he had a friend in the car participating in a street race with him while not wearing a seatbelt is, while a very unfortunate circumstance, not anymore Nick's fault than his own.

My only argument to that would be Nick is responsible for everything in his car be it a bowling ball or otherwise let alone his actions.

Wesley Snipes needs to have his sentencing reduced by comparison. Excuse my French, but je-m'appelle-mon-nom-est-oui-oui this is straight up horsebutt.

Just for the sake of argument... my vehicle goes nowhere unless everyone is buckled up. He could have ensured the same.
Not to mention street racing. With a passenger. Dumb.

Yeah, that's a good point.

I think he should have gotten more time. I don't think the kid should spend his life in jail, kids do stupid things, this was one of those stupid things that ended in tragedy, I hope he learns something from it.
grats to them suspending his license for three years.

Same here, my car doesn't move until everyone is strapped in. I know i'm a great driver, but there are a lot of shitty ones in Atlanta, and it's not worth the risk.

Understatement of the century.
