View Full Version : I Got My PS3 Check!

So, got a letter from the IRS today. After first worrying about an audit, I remembered someone on here said the same thing when then got the announcement which I never got, so I figured that's what it was. Well, actually, it was a letter to let me know that they had already deposited the money in my account.

So, in order to do my patriotic duty, I am required to spend this on crap that I don't need and I figure a PS3 is a pretty good way to do that.

I will have to buck up for the other $100 since I only got $300 due to the small amount I had to claim last year, but since I have a real job with salary and benefits and stuff I think I can probably afford it. I've been mostly paying down debt since I got this job, so I haven't really treated myself, but now that I'm basically "ahead", I think its time I get something for myself.

I know we had a thread like this when we got the announcement in the mail, but what does everyone else plan to use their stimulus check for?

Lucky you. For us unpatriotic 360-owners; we, or rather I, have to stash more equity in the tank of my minivan... Greater than and equal to the rest of my assets.

Sadly, I'm not at all certain whether I'm joking or not on this one. Huh.

I'm supposed to get mine by the 9th which would be great since I leave for my vacation on the 10th and since the Dollar sucks compared to the Euro I could use all the extra cash I can muster.

They made Jackson look like a damn hippy with the red, yellow and blue ink. No shit we suck, now. Based solely on the color of our money.

Sort of happy they did make Jackson look like a circus performer though. Fuck him.

I was suppose to get mine on the 2nd, no check here. Not sure why I'm not getting one...

A portion of it is going towards the deposit for a vacation this summer in Belize.

The rest will pay off some bills.

Did you get a notice from the IRS at least? We got our letter a few days after the deposit, letting us know that we'd be getting it soon.

We're paying our credit card. Paying off debt is stimulating too.

Did you use TurboTax or another third-party processing company? Your check will be 1-2 weeks later, no direct deposit.

I'm not sure about that. My husband submits our tax returns with TurboTax and we got ours deposited on the 2nd IIRC.

Used H&R Block. I got a letter from the IRS and from H&R Block stating it should be coming no later than the 2nd, direct deposit on this stupid Emerald Card they gave me. When I checked the balance last night, it was .62 cents. Is it really fucking possible that's all I got?

NOTE: The balance was 0, so that .62 cents was added.

Why Won’t I Get My Economic Stimulus Payment by Direct Deposit?

If you used TurboTax’s “refund transfer” you will not get a direct deposit. This information comes directly for the TurboTax Support Site Page (http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/kb/tax-content/tax-tips/5462.html) on the Stimulus Payment:

Under certain circumstances, however, the IRS has decided that taxpayers can only get their rebates by mail, even if they get their refunds by direct deposit. At TurboTax, this will happen if you use a “refund transfer” when filing your 2007 return. This service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, under an agreement with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust .

This is not right. I got my refund through direct deposit on H&R Block's website and received the deposit for my stimulus check in the same account.

See the above posts, they explain better.

If it makes you feel better, I'll restate:

My last two digits are 18 and I got mine on the 2nd. I also did H&R Block direct deposit, so I have no idea what would be holding your check up.

Sweet. I have no equity and a large amount of student loans. You can go ahead and start paying on those whenever you'd like.
