I forgot how much fun 635 can be. It's great in OTF when things get swarmy because you can use it to stun every stunnable mob in the room, to buy you time.

Here's a couple of casts from a rescue I was helping out with today:

My ranger doesn't have lores yet, and just hit 200 mana, so I think this spell will become more useful to him over time.

This is an excerpt from November showing why not to cast it near a wasp nest.

Rolled an 82 on my hunting partner, who was joined when I casted it, but not after I died. Good times.

Well lores help, but yeah you need to have a ton of ranger ranks. The extra cycle from lore ranks help.

They do, but think of it this way: would you rather have a higher number of crappy crit cycles or slightly fewer powerful crit cycles? I know we've discussed this before, but I thought I'd elaborate for the others.

disclaimer: I would only even experiment with this since my CS is low. I am a 2x ambush swinger so my spell ranks aren't exactly phenomenal. 5 ranks of summoning lore which I am currently untraining. Level 39. few more logs to follow.

Cool info, Mark. I knew the first damage cycle was correlated with the endroll, but I hadn't bothered to peg down the formula.

IW: what exactly was interesting about those logs? 635's crit type is determined by the climate and terrain of the room in which it is cast. I believe each C/T has a couple crit options that are chosen randomly.

we did good - but he had to go afk. cant wait to go back

edit: Ifor owns. His shots seemed to crit more than 635 does - and he was overhunting in that particular camp. Next time I'll have an orb/owl aspect up, giving me 454 CS.

I think I did more damage per shot on average. PLUS my shots set them on fire. Not bad for a ranger. Wonder if Fire Lore would help that..

Off topic here, but what spells cause the shroud or whatever to come fuck you up? Obviously I'm not Sunfist but I thought AOE spells were limited in there, or is that only for particular classes/spells?

Also, more on topic, no more nerfing anything. More doom and crits, not less.

note: i got a lot more crits the 2nd time around. the 20 CS definitely helped. didn't use any lore enhancives so Summoning Lore is maxed at 101 ranks.

Ifor is level 82. he told me the grims would be mostly early 90s, with some his level and some my level.

that was 1 hunt. even with 610, 612, and a bunch of 635s, took a while for the shroud to put me in RT. wonder if 1030 effects it?

Instead of using 635 I tend to use 619 more in swarms, or I run away. Running away is the best defense.

The best part of this spell is the part where some lowbie invariably wanders in the room and is obliterated by sheer bad timing.

Bonus points if they cuss you a blue streak in whispers.

Extra bonus points if it's the IC whisper channel.

Moar extra bonus points if they're still whining 40 minutes later when you lope back into town.

Yes. The heavy quartz orbs, Mystic Focus (1711), add a bonus of +10 to a character's Casting Strength (CS) irrespective of the spell being cast. Characters under level 20 receive an additional graduated bonus.
