Questions about DS

Was testing my warrior and noticed this, hoping for some explanation from the mechanics gurus.


Full defensive No armor
You swing a closed fist at Warrior!
AS: +101 vs DS: +510 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +72 = -312
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

Full Defensive +40 plate
You swing a closed fist at Warrior!
AS: +101 vs DS: +506 with AvD: -23 + d100 roll: +40 = -388
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 3 sec.


Full offensive No armor
You swing a closed fist at Warrior!
AS: +101 vs DS: +284 with AvD: +25 + d100 roll: +78 = -80
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 3 sec.


Full offensive +40 plate
You swing a closed fist at Warrior!
AS: +101 vs DS: +291 with AvD: -23 + d100 roll: +47 = -166
A clean miss.
Roundtime: 3 sec.

There's a hefty penalty to Dodge associated with full plate

Yeah, put on some 0x plate and you'll see it.

It looks weird because the plate gives you more DS in stance o but less in stance d, but it makes sense. Observe:

The dodge stance modifiers are 1 and .75 for stances d and o, respectively, and the full plate dodge modifier is .825. Thus, the change in DS for putting on the plate in stance defensive is - x * 1 * .175 + enchant (e) = -.175 * x + e. The change for stance offensive is - x * .75 * .175 + e = -.131 * x + e. Our actual values are -4 and +7, so we have:

7 = -.131*x + e
-4 = -.175*x + e

7 - -4 = -.131*x + e +.175*x - e
11 = .044*x
x = 251.4

You almost certainly have less dodge ranks than this due to stat bonuses, so really the bead I get is:

252 = dodge ranks + AGI bonus + INT bonus / 4

Such a misconception that plate is heavy and inflexible, high full plate armor was a work of wonder during their times.

My dodge is 230 at the moment.

Int bonus (13)


Had a mad plan of 3x dodge, but wondering now if its just a waste of points for a warrior.



Not all warrior questions can be pegged auto Lysander.

230 + 20 + 13/4 = 254, not bad!

3x dodge is awfully pricey, but you do get an awful lot back for it. EBP is gold, and it's a great way to pump DS - you're still getting about 2/3 of a DS per rank even in full plate.
