Perrilloux will win the Heisman next year incidentally. You heard it here first.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who has had legal and disciplinary problems throughout his college career, has been kicked off the team.
Coach Les Miles says Perrilloux "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete," but is not giving details.
LSU said Friday that Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester at the school.
Perrilloux, who was suspended by the Tigers last summer, was on the fringe of a counterfeiting investigation and was caught trying to enter a Baton Rouge casino with false identification. He also was involved in a fracas at a nightclub in November, but was cleared of wrongdoing.

He's only gotten in trouble for missing practices/meetings, trying to drink underage, and now allegedly failing a drug test. Doesn't really sound like "thug" behavior to me. Just some misguided fuck-up. He's not out sticking people up with guns and brawling at bars...

On October 25, Perrilloux, teammate Derrick Odom and others were involved in a fight at a Baton Rouge nightclub. On October 31, 2007, Odom and Jeremy Benton were dismissed from the team. Perrilloux remains on the squad, but was suspended for LSU's game against Alabama.

yup. he was a "person of interest" in a federal investigation into a counterfeiting ring. i don't believe he was ever charged with anything, but he was clearly involved in something shady.

I guess you missed the part where video evidence cleared him of any wrongdoing at the club.
And he was a material witness in the counterfeit situation. He was passed some bad bills, he used them and was questioned.

yeah, he's a great guy--a model citizen even.
looks like he'll have plenty of free time to work on that charity he's starting up. you know, since he was unfairly released from the team, since he's such a good guy and all.

He definitely upgrades from knucklehead to jackass with the failed drug test after all the chances he's been given, but he's not a thug like you try to make him out to be.
I never said he was a model citizen either nor am I trying to make out like he's a saint. All I'm saying is the shit he's done isn't all that bad.

maybe your definition of thug is different than mine. let me rephrase. he's not a good guy. he is a douchebag who squandered his talent and merits no pity.
the shit he's done isn't that bad? that's an ignorant statement and only highlights your fucked up sense of right and wrong.

the worst thing he's done is fail a drug test, and that's why he's off the LSU team? i guess that would make sense if he failed another one.
well, regardless, now we just wait to see the reason.

He's off the team for many minor transgressions that have added up. The latest being a failed drug test. He's been given chances and he keeps fucking them up.

Depends on what drug he failed with. If it was pot, he might be fine. Anything else, and he's out of a college career.
As far as Maurice Clarett, he WAS quite a decent, intelligent person. His decisions in life, however, were horrible. He tried to take on the system, and subsequently failed. Then he failed to keep himself in playing shape, and he lost his chance at a great life.
Perrilloux may still get a chance at the NFL level, if he isn't going to further his resume after whatever discipline he is handed. Ricky Williams paid his dues, and he got another chance. Just as Pacman will have.
As far as the whole "thug" debate, Perrilloux is just a college football star who was thrown into the high profile lifestyle that Jemarcus Russell avoided. Perrilloux was put on a national stage, and effectively bolstered his reputation as a coming star. Russell was just "that guy" until his Senior year, when he was at a mental level to handle the pressure.
Anyway, Jamaal Tinsley is a thug. Stephen Jackson is a thug. Perrilloux is about as much of a thug as Detlef Schrempf was.

Don't get all pissy now. It's pretty obvious from the course of this discussion that you are vastly uninformed on the subject and decided to come out with guns blazing just because you may not like him or LSU or the south or whatever.
The problem is that so many people over the course of the year have done this and most of the stuff that's said about the guy is just not true. Yeah he's a fuck up and he puts himself in the worst possible situations without actually having broken any laws. But whenever someone gets in trouble now it's an automatic reaction that "OMG he's a thug!" when that's not the case.

Four, the PROBLEM is fucking assholes like you who go easy on someone because they're "a fuck up and...put [themselves] in the worst possible situations without actually having broken any laws"--> that's just wrong. he failed a drug test. he broke the law. he tried to enter a casino with a fake ID. he broke the law (whatever, this isn't a big deal as far as anyone is concerned, but it's still illegal). I'll throw a "Liar, Liar" quote in there because it's applicable: "STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!"

Nothing like watching a War Eagle soar around the stadium from what I hear. Never saw it live but I did watch Tiger's retirement and Nova's introduction online (back at the end of '06 I think). My sister says it's quite an experience, especially when you are wearing purple and gold and cheering for the other Tigers.

Perrilloux signs with Jacksonville State
Associated Press
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, kicked off LSU's national championship team after repeated off-the-field problems, signed Wednesday with Jacksonville State.
Perrilloux will be able to transfer and start immediately for the Gamecocks. The MVP of last season's Southeastern Conference title game won't have to sit out a year because Jacksonville State plays in the lower Football Championship Subdivision.
