How do I tell the differance between new and old style?

The AvD is 10 points higher for the old claids vs a new claid, IIRC.

Which is because old style are actually greatswords, and will inspect as such.

Old style claids are actually two handed sword based. You have to relearn your weapon spec and it will be classified as a two handed sword:

After a careful inspection you determine that a white shaalk claidhmore requires skill in twohanded weapons to use effectively. It appears to be a modified twohanded sword.

You remember that you registered this item a few days ago.

It looks like this item has been mainly crafted out of vultite.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

They are also +10 to avd and -10 to as.

You know greatswords and two handed swords are exactly the same thing, right?

Also, Old Style Claids have a .275 DF vs Plate while new ones have a .225.

If you are just looking for a plain old style then check out the store on Teras. Pretty sure they're still two handed swords off with a conversion portal in the room.

Needs to hit magical!

Also, I'd like to actually bond to something of worth.

I don't recall if the kelyn one I bought is old or new. I suspect new though. For ultimate pwnage, I'd recommend the xenium one I sold a long time ago -- was like 6 lbs I think and old style 3x (so I think it was 1x? I forget).

I'd really rather have an old-style since I plan on doing grimswarm and tons of them are in plate.

Is there anyway you could check on that Kelyn Claid for me?

I heard that the new 110 area is magic metals only.

If that kelyn claidh was the one I sold to SHM, it was picked up in OTF and is just plain 2x newstyle.

Wait, a creature spawned with a Mageek Metal Claid or did you find it in a box?

I've found fucking tons of steel claids in boxes :(

Creatures have been spawning with magic metal claids. Not that common, but it happens.

A girl in Plat found a faenor claidhmore in minotaurs a few weeks back. And someone found a glaes claidhmore in Nelemar in both Prime AND Platinum when the new treasure system went live.

No creature spawns with THWs in Nelemar. I thought it HAD to be a weapon of the same type they use. I'm pretty sure at least. Which leads me to believe they were boxfound.

I've had critters in the Bowels spawn with claids.

Creatures will spawn with a unique weapon no matter what kind they use.

Don't creatures in the bowels spawn with mauls?

Danical

I've found over 20 creature genned weapons and it's always a native weapon; that's statistically insane if they can spawn willy nilly.

In your face, Common Sense!

The Ponzzz

Creatures can gen with weapons that don't commonly use. Creatures are just more proned to gen with a proper type weapon for their base profession. Rangers arch-type creatures will be more proned to carry ranged and thrown weapons. Pures will carry runestaves generally. Warriors with larger weapons. But they aren't strictly bound to this.

Danical
12-17-2008, 02:23 AM
That makes more sense; I've just never seen it happen.

Happens alot in the skull temple in EN, if you need an example. Shan as well.

There are several areas that you can really raid for unique weapons/shields on creatures, as the majority of creatures will not despawn when they have a unique weapon, they wander until they are found.

Grimswarm and bandits don't follow these rules though.

You can't? Their staffs are THWs. That is why they are always carrying stupid weapons like Claidhs.
