No shield, makes a HUGE difference, obviously. It's part of the reason I dropped archery/hurler, no bolt DS to speak of, and I don't spell tank. Oh, and hurling is broken.

Are you kidding me? Ranged has no problem with bolt DS. Two handers and poles maybe, but not ranged. My bolt DS was pretty much always higher then my physical defense.

I'm sure the fact that my rogue hunts in robes doesn't help. I have no clue why my DS dropped so much in OTF, I also don't run around with an arrow out, and didn't have any brawling. I'm waiting to change anything further with brawling and thrown being revamped in some way.

They're completely different DS systems. Unfortunately there's no straight +DS skill; you're pretty fucked without a shield for bolt DS.

running with an arrow out doesn't affect your defence iirc. Also, my DS suffered very bad against bolt AS.
