Happy with what happened? Pissed off?
I like what the Pack did with this draft. There was no one really worth it for their first round pick, and they got 3 solid picks in the second round because of it. I know Rodgers is supposed to start, but I'm happy they took Brohm.

Fucking Jets.

I'll have to see what the bears do in the second day. On paper they got a good left tackle and a running. Both needs, but Forte is coming off a MCL tear and a lot of people had williams rated lower.
We'll see. I think we need to get a good Safety on the second day and I wouldn't be surprised if they took someone like Colt Brennan (facepalm). I'd like to see them pick up a decent wide receiver as well though.

Heh nice. I didn't realize they started round three already. We got a WR I've nevr heard of. Sweet.

The Bills picked the best CB in the draft with the 11 pick, and a good WR early in the second round (the second or third WR taken, I believe), though they passed on Malcolm Kelly to take him, so I'd be curious as to see him in action.
I just woke up, so I need to catch up on the picks today.

I wish the Dolphins traded down but oh well. They need so much that its hard to screw up their draft. First round was a bit nuts with all the lineman going.

Colt Brennan, facepalm worthy? GTFO. You probably know absolutely squat about the guy outside of the game against Georgia, and he wasn't even at fault. Tell the five, six, and sometimes seven guys in front of his to block like they belonged in a bowl game, and he would've been fine. If anything, Brennan would be the best possible option for the Bears, who haven't had a quality QB since they ruined Cade McNown out of college, and turned him into a nobody.
Brennan >>> the eight nobody douchebags they have now, including Kyle Orton.

Jags reached for Harvey. Jags did the smart thing to go after Groves.
Got an everydown DE to replace some of the old/injured, and a 3rd down specialist.

Harvey will be better than Tony Brackens ever was, so great pick for the Jags. The Chiefs made out like bandits too... they might have a line like Priest Holmes ran behind about five years ago.

04-27-2008, 03:12 PM
If the Jags wanted to truly jump for it, they could have gone for Dorsey, IMO. 18 spots in the draft was a huge reach. Harvey's a good DE don't get me wrong.
Also, the Chiefs got it really good. However, I'm going to say Baltimore made the better trades. Brilliant moves.

It's like the Bengals don't even try to win. How do you pass on Limas Sweede and take a WR from E. Carolina nobody has ever heard of. They could've waited till the 3rd round and got the same guy.

Matt Flynn is crap. Periloux(sp?) will be a top 10 pick when he comes out. JUST YOU WATCH.
Seriously though, Colt Brennan needs to go eventually, here's hoping the Vikings are smart enough to take him. WE NEED A QB DAMNIT.

Oh, and the Vikes took John David Booty from USC with 137, in the 5th round.

04-27-2008, 06:14 PM
Oh... well hot damn, I'm finally glad to see Booty. Now, if only they'll let him run out of the tunnel to "Ms. New Booty" by Bubba Sparxxx.
RichardCranium

10 to 1 Flynn has a better career than Booty and Brennan.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time
04-27-2008, 06:25 PM
Now that Brennan has been thrown into the Abyss at Washington, you may be right there... Booty though? Naw. I think he could be solid. He's a big kid, with a solid, albeit not stellar arm, with mild mobility and understated intensity. If I didn't name JDB before that description, it could've easily passed for Eli Manning, who correct me if I'm wrong, just won a Superbowl ring. Flynn is easily irritated, has the same average arm, and may end up as the next Brad Johnson if he meets his potential.
I would have liked for a 5-6rd QB for Buffalo. Behind Edwards you have a disgruntled Losman who will be gone next year and apparently Gibran Hamdan a 7th rounder from 03 who has thrown 2 passes ever. So unless they are going to grab some free agent backup they really have no depth if anything happens to Edwards. Ideally instead of grabbing Bowen to be a special teamer in the 5th they could have grabbed a Dennis Dixon, Erik Ainge, John Johnson, Andre Woodson, or Colt Brennan all of whom went later and would make fine QB2s.

Perrilloux will win the Heisman next year incidentally. You heard it here first.

or if he doesn't get kicked off the team for the fourth time.
Oddly I'm leaning heavily towards Beanie for heisman. A lot will come down to the USC game.
RichardCranium
04-28-2008, 12:00 AM
He's never been kicked off the team, thanks for playing though.
Hopefully Wells can come through for you guys. Lord knows he, as well as Gholston, Boeckman, Lyons, Robiskie, Laurinaitis, Abdallah and Barrow tend to disappear in big games.
Skeeter
04-28-2008, 10:31 AM
Wells and Laurinaitis I would have to argue. They play well every week.
Lyons never got on the field to disappear. Maybe you meant he was hiding behind the water cooler? Tons of potential too bad it didn't work out. Maybe he'll shine at WVU.
Bockman HAS to get better. I'm hoping that one full season as the starter and an appearance in the NC will bring that on. If he struggles in a loss against USC he may not be the QB in week 4.
Robiskie would certainly disappear. Not sure if that was his fault, boeckman's fault or a combo.
Abdallah and Barrow aren't even starters so it's kind of odd you would throw them in there. Did you just randomly pick names off the roster?
Heh nice. I didn't realize they started round three already. We got a WR I've nevr heard of. Sweet. He's the leading receiver in SEC history... not too bad with that pick. No QB though, lucky Rex.
And we got someone to take Tank's place with all the off the field troubles in our new DT, Marcus Harrison.
For the first and last time ever I watched the entire draft. I don't know how you guys do it, but hats off to you. The reason for this is my brother was on the boards hoping to get picked in a later round. He went undrafted, but he signed as a free agent with a west coast team immediately following the draft. It's an exhausting process, but it proves that hard work definitely pays off.

They fucking ate shit. They were focused on two players for the first two rounds and both got taken within a few selections of their own. So what did they do? They settled for a scrub at the same position...
Gonna be a long year when I move to Nashville.

They are always retarded in the draft. Devin Thomas is on the board along with 10 other people that COULD help the team and they grab this kid because he had the fastest combine speed.

Im pretty happy with the Eagles draft. Disappointed that for the second straight year we didnt have a first round pick but i understand the trade down esp with next years 1st round from the panthers on the line. Picked up a DT who will get thrown into the rotation and DeSean Jackson should help our special teams a lot. Jackson could turn into a good receiver as well but im not counting on it. Day 2 was a lot of camp bodies and depth. Only second day pick that really stood out to me was Quintin Demps. The guy is a speedster with great coverage ability, not much of a hitter though.

I bet Cadillac isn't. BTW: Why the fuck did the Vikings trade away their draft for Allen, when they could've gotten Jason Taylor for the same 1st round pick?

Taylor's 34. Allen is 26.

Taylor's going to break his fucking hip at this rate.
Allen is in his prime. Way smarter move IMHO.
( Besides, we all know they were waving Taylor at the Jags. Everyone was all OMG TRADE FOR HIM, and makes me sad at the intelligence of some fans. )

Meh, Harvey has a much brighter future, even in the short term. I just don't get why the Vikings needed Allen, who up until very recently, has sucked. We had a shot at merling no problem, or maybe even Harvey.
Stunseed
04-29-2008, 03:25 PM
Meh, I like Allen's technique from what I've seen. I'm no NFL scout by any means, but Allen has fundamentals to work with...Taylor's more of a let luck take type.
Also, I like Groves, don't get me wrong, but I thought Merling would have been a more sound pick for the Jags. Even if neither Harvey OR Merling gets the start in '08, they would both get the reps and time to transition well.

Allen has been in the league what, 2 or 3 years and has had 2 pro-bowl seasons? He didnt exactly have much help from the rest of the chiefs line either. Taylor is a proven veteran but nearing the end of his career. Both are better options than trying to get a fresh rookie to train and *hope* he turns into a player. Either way both the vikings and the jags gave up virtually the same amount to land their respective new DE's, one is a probowler tho.

The way Harvey tossed around Jake Long... I wouldn't think he really needs THAT much work to be an NFL caliber star. Could easily see him moving to Julius Peppers status by the end of next year.

You're kidding right? Jake Long gave up two sacks in his entire collegiate career and was only called for a penalty twice. I know one of the sacks was by Gholston from Ohio State and was the only one he gave up in his senior season, and while I don't know who got the other one, it is pretty ridiculous to say that Jake Long was "tossed around" by anyone because he has dominated pretty much everyone who has lined up across from him.

Pretty much, yes. The stats you provided, though, don't say a thing about his run blocking. While he is a notoriously good run blocker, the matchup was strongly in Harvey's favor.

So that's why Mike Hart had 129 yards and two touchdowns in the Citrus Bowl?

Carl Stewart from Auburn got signed free agent to the Bucs. I watched him for 4 years at Auburn; he honestly has some talent that I think will come to fruition as a non-draft.
I am a fanboy though; pretty cool to say I met 2 people that got signed free agents.

I'll vouch for that! Stewart has great hands, and could very well become a Robert Smith clone, albeit faster.
