[Sorcerer Guild, Amphitheater]
Rows of chairs cascade down to face a white seashell-shaped enclosure and the open sea beyond. The half seashell stands as high as two giantmen and opens toward the audience, protectively housing a crimson marble dais. Behind the dais, suspended from the seashell's roof, a huge banner moves gently in the wind. Black sands radiate the day's accumulated sunlight to provide a soft, warm floor, and torches ringing the amphitheater burn brightly, providing more than adequate illumination. You also see an old fork-bearded gnoll, the Berrigan disk, a tethered hairy black tarantula, a twitchy oak brown arashan, the Jteim disk, an uneasy dark grey arashan, a scarred deep umber abyran'sa and a glowing black portal.
Also here: Capalodius, Berrigan, Lady Jteim, Akaylas who is sitting, Lord Mazir, Killua, Great Lord Sereg
Obvious paths: none
Sereg smiles.
(Sereg walks up to the dais)
Akaylas quietly takes a seat.
Sereg says, "We may as well get started."
You nod to Sereg.
You adopt an agreeable expression.
Sereg says, "In case you don't know, I am Guild Master Sereg."
You sit down.
The glowing black portal flashes brightly as Lilabell exits.
A darkly speckled osprey arrives.
Sereg says, "And this is Guild Master Allereli Lissina Faendryl, who is also the Chairman of Twilight Hall."
Sereg nods to you.
You smile.
Sereg rummages through a mottled brown cloak draped with dozens of desiccated fish heads, but comes up empty-handed.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Good evening and thank ye all for coming."
Lilabell just opened a slender black gauze pelisse wrapped low with a length of bright cherry red silk.
Sereg removes a sheaf of crumbling paper from in his brown cloak.
Sereg gives a sigh of relief.
Sereg removes a pair of gold-rimmed spectacles from in his filthy brown robes.
Sereg puts on a pair of gold-rimmed spectacles.
Sereg blinks at a sheaf of crumbling paper in his hand.
Mazir sits down.
Sereg says, "First off, I have a few folks that I wish to thank."
Lilabell removes a milky blue chalcedony runestone from in her black gauze pelisse.
Sereg says, "Firstly, Guild Master Baire, who has let us use this facility tonight."
Sereg says, "I would also like to thank Guild Masters Allereli, Rheisia, Querthose, and Virilneus as well as Guild Members Capalodius, Desorceri, and Missoni."
Sereg says, "They were willing to share their knowledge of uncommon runes for this event."
Sereg says, "I plan on covering a few aspects of Demonology tonight."
Sereg says, "I will first cover the area that I get the most questions on, and that is summoning runestones in general."
Sereg says, "Then I will speak on a number of practical, everyday uses for demons."
Sereg says, "And then I hope to have time to speak on the state of demonology, and perhaps where we should be headed."
Akaylas takes a drink from his hot herbal tea.
Sereg says, "If you have to use the little elves room, or have other commitments, please feel free to leave at any time."
Sereg grins.
Akaylas smiles.
Berrigan grins.
Capalodius rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Sereg says, "One doesn't get to be my age without becoming long winded."
Capalodius asks, "We have a little elves room in the guild?"
Sereg nods to Capalodius.
Sereg says, "Now, Runestones."
Sereg says, "There are generally three types of summoning runestones."
Sereg says, "And they go by multiple names."
Sereg says, "There are the general valence runestones, which are aloso known as tier one runestones."
Sereg says, "These are what every guild shop sellls, and the runes are taught to every sorcerer when they learn Minor Summoning."
You quietly whisper to Sereg, "They're not sold in every guild."
Sereg says, "Each one represents on of the three valences, lorae'tyr, grik'tyr, and shien'tyr."
Sereg says, "And Allereli has pointed out that not every guild shop sells them."
Sereg nods to you.
Sereg says, "A tier one runestone will allow the summoner to summon literally the first demon they come across during the piercing and seeking stages of the summoning spell."
The glowing black portal flashes brightly as Drigore exits.
A listless brick red jackal arrives.
Sereg says, "For a valence like grik'tyr, that gives the summoner a 50 percent chance of summoning a grik or an imp."
Drigore slings a massive silvery illthorn aegis covered in tiny poisonous barbed thorns over his shoulder.
You nod to Drigore in greeting.
Drigore sits down.
Drigore nods to you in greeting.
Sereg says, "For the lorae'tyr valence, it becomes more random as there are more archetypes of demons present."
Sereg asks, "Any questions on the general valence, or tier one runestones?"
Capalodius shakes his head.
Sereg squints.
Sereg nods.
Sereg gazes in awe at a sheaf of crumbling paper in his hand.
Drigore looks over at Sereg and shakes his head.
Sereg says, "Ah, nearly forgot."
Sereg smiles.
Sereg says, "A sorcerer will be able to use a tier one runestone without chance for failure with fifty ranks of demonology."
Sereg says, "I will mention summoning chambers a bit later, which can modify things in the summoner's favor."
Sereg says, "Now, the archetype-specific runes, or tier two."
Sereg says, "These specify both the valence, and the arche'type."
Sereg says, "For example a shien'tyr-shien is a tier two runestone."
Sereg says, "It allows the summoner to summon one of the subtypes of the shien with every succcessful cast."
Sereg says, "These are much more useful when attempting to obtain a certain demon for a particular task."
Sereg says, "However, they are also twice as difficult as the general valence runestones to use without chance for failure."
Sereg says, "And thus require one hundred ranks of demonology lore."
Sereg asks, "Any questions so far?"
Drigore shakes his head.
Sereg nods.
Berrigan looks over at Sereg and shakes his head.
Sereg says, "Finally there are the tier three, or the subtype specific runes."
Sereg says, "These are the most difficult of the known, uncommon runes."
Sereg says, "These specify both the valence, the archetype, and the subtype of the demon."
Sereg says, "For example, a shien'tyr-shadowling is an example of a tier three."
Sereg says, "As it will only summon the shadowling subtype of the shien."
Sereg says, "These runes vary with difficulty from subtype to subtype."
Sereg says, "And there is a lack of complete research on the lore requirements."
Sereg says, "However, it is generally thought that most tier three runes require betweeen 125 and 150 ranks."
Sereg says, "The lorae'tyr-abyran'sa is said to be the most difficult."
Sereg says, "And I myself did pretty conclusive testing that 150 ranks will allow for use of the rune without chance for failure."
Sereg says, "So, in overview."
Sereg says, "A shien'tyr runestone will allow for one to summon an arashan, aishan, darkling, or shadowling."
Sereg says, "A shien'tyr-shien will allow for the summoning of a shadowling or a darkling."
Sereg says, "And a shien'tyr-shadowling will allow for one to summon only the shadowlings."
Akaylas nods.
Sereg says, "It should further be noted that there is a significant beneft when attempting to summon in a summoning chamber. Each Sorcerer guild has one as well as a few other locations."
Sereg says, "The chambers have inherent protections built in that allow for the summoner to act with greater confidence."
Sereg says, "And will allow the summoner to summon as if they had an additional 25 ranks of demonology."
Sereg asks, "Any questions as to the runestones and the tier system?"
Drigore looks over at Sereg and shakes his head.
Berrigan shakes his head.
Capalodius gazes in wonder at his surroundings.
Sereg nods.
Sereg says, "Lets move onto a bit of practical uses for our demons."
Sereg says, "There are numerous ways demons can provide assistance to their masters."
Sereg says, "And I will not cover them all here."
Sereg says, "But I will point out a few means that are less known among sorcerers."
Sereg says, "Firstly, most demons are able to pickup and carry, and or eat numerous items."
Sereg removes a twisted rod from in his brown cloak.
Sereg drops a twisted rod.
Sereg gives the abyran'sa a quick nod. It approaches and flows gracefully about him, becoming like a second shadow.
The abyran'sa whips its tail about itself in a menacing fashion, clearly ready to slap at anything that comes within range.
Sereg says, "Where this can become amazingly useful is in conjunction with limb disrupt."
Sereg says, "If a foe becomes disarmed, a timely command for the demon to eat or grasp the weapon can have huge benefits."
Sereg says, "Most folks will agree that Illoke Shamen are not nearly as fearless lacking their hammers."
Sereg smiles.
Drigore smirks.
Sereg says, "But this can also work for shields."
Sereg says, "And finally, they are good at picking up the weapons dropped by your comrades."
Sereg says, "In the thick of battle, the Sorcerer may not be able do disengage to pick up a fallen comrade's priceless claidmore."
Sereg says, "But a demon can be commanded to do so."
Sereg says, "Another often overlooked aspect is the ability that most demons have to locate others."
Sereg says, "This can be an effective ability to track down a thief... as some demons can locate those who are hidden from sight."
Sereg says, "This can also be a blessing in places like the Rift, and Icemule Trace where bodies become hidden by snow or magic."
Sereg says, "A trusty aishan is able to sniff out the body."
Sereg says, "And allow for the sorcerer to only look for the demon, rather than through all of the nooks and crannies ."
Sereg says, "And I think the final truly interesting aspect that our demons possess, relates to their inherent chaotic nature."
Sereg says, "And I am not referring to their ability to interfere with sanctuaries."
Sereg says, "But it is close."
Sereg says, "The same chaotic nature that is able to interfere with the creation of sanctuaries, is also able to interfere with the nature of curses."
Sereg says, "For example."
Sereg removes a faded tan satchel from in his brown cloak.
Sereg put a sheaf of crumbling paper in his brown cloak.
Sereg removes a scratched monir coffer from in his tan satchel.
Sereg put a faded tan satchel in his brown cloak.
Sereg smiles.
Sereg says, "In this coffer I have an urglaes fang."
Sereg says, "Which is cursed."
Sereg removes an urglaes fang from in his monir coffer.
Sereg says, "But... by giving it to my demon."
Sereg gives his urglaes fang to a scarred deep umber abyran'sa.
Sereg says, "Its inherent chaotic nature is able to dispel the curse."
A scarred deep umber abyran'sa gives an urglaes fang to Sereg.
Sereg says, "And thus."
Sereg drops an urglaes fang.
Sereg smiles.
A scarred deep umber abyran'sa takes a scratched monir coffer from Sereg's hand and swallows it whole.
A scarred deep umber abyran'sa quickly grasps an urglaes fang with one of its elongated arms.
Drigore blinks.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "Very interesting."
Sereg agrees with Akaylas.
You smile at Sereg.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Wonderful demonstration there."
Sereg says, "It is the similar nature of curses and blesses, and sanctuaries that allow for this."
Sereg says, "The same spirits from this valence are thwared by the demons."
Sereg gives the abyran'sa a quick nod. It approaches and flows gracefully about him, becoming like a second shadow.
Sereg asks, "Now, any questions as to the practical uses of demons?"
Drigore shakes his head.
Sereg says, "I didn't want to mention every ability as that is taught as part of the spell, but rather highlight the impressive points that most folks miss."
Sereg nods.
Sereg says, "Well, now we move on from everyday uses to the more theoretical."
Sereg says, "Currently, the basilica recognizes 13 known uncommon runes ."
Akaylas grins ear-to-ear.
Drigore stands up.
Drigore says, "Excuse me."
The glowing black portal flashes brightly as Drigore enters.
Sereg says, "However, I am not sure if our research there has been lacking."
Sereg says, "For example, the grik'tyr valence is the one most often travelled to by Sorcerers."
Sereg says, "And we recognize four distinct tribes of griks."
Sereg says, "The grik'trak, grik'mlar, grik'pwal and grik'tval."
Sereg says, "Logically it follows that the bascilica should have recognized four more tier three runes."
Sereg says, "One for each tribe."
Lilabell rubs her chin thoughtfully.
Sereg says, "Demonic summoning consists of three phases, the Piercing stage, the seeking stage, and the linking stage."
Sereg says, "As most of us know, the piercing and seeking stage are difficult to explain and run together."
Sereg says, "This is when we pierce the veil, and seek out our target."
Sereg says, "A more specific rune to focus on could lead to more significant research as to the interactions between grik tribes ouside of their home environment."
Sereg says, "But, the real travesty is the lack of additional tier three runes from the lorae'tyr valence."
Akaylas nods.
Sereg says, "I belive this is due in part because of the closed nature of the plane. However, Shieltine's ward has served a solid function for thousands of years."
Sereg says, "But we come to a point where we must re-examine our motivations."
Sereg smiles.
Sereg says, "Without anyone vistiting the plane with permission in thousands of years, who knows what me might be losing."
Sereg says, "It was said in a different perspective, but I believe Yshryth Silvius Faendry's words echo true here today."
Sereg asks, "How can we lead them from this darkness if we live in its shadow?"
Akaylas raises his hand.
Sereg says, "The fact that a member of this audience was able to do something NEVER before recorded in the Enchiridion Valentia says something."
Sereg peers quizzically at Akaylas.
Speaking in Guildspeak to Sereg, Akaylas says, "I've a question for you."
Sereg says, "Sure."
Sereg turns an inquisitive ear towards Akaylas.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "No doubt you've read, or heard of the accounts of sorcerers from the previous millenias who traveled to the Lorae'tyr valence. No doubt, you remember that often they would encounter time shifts ranging from mere moments to centuries."
Sereg nods to Akaylas.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "Now, I fully agree, we can't possibly fathom what we are losing by not continuing to explore the Lorae'tyr valence. But what do you think is the solution to this ultimately risky situation."
Sereg says, "Aye, there is a price to progress."
Capalodius rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Sereg says, "But, I believe there is a secret to the time variations which is known by the abyran."
Sereg says, "But that is for another day."
Sereg says, "'but to continue."
Akaylas nods.
You see Great Lord Sereg Wessx the Cabalist.
He appears to be a Dark Elf.
He is tall and appears to be decrepit with age. He has bloodshot milky white eyes and pitted, whitehead-plastered skin. He has short, greasy white hair that is riddled with bits of rope and piled upon his head in a haphazardous heap. He has a thin-nostriled flat nose.
He has a tattooed symbol of Fash'lo'nae on his neck.
He is in good shape.
He is wearing a pair of gold-rimmed spectacles, a pointed dusty black hat, a mottled brown cloak draped with dozens of desiccated fish heads, a black obsidian knot sigil, a translucent glaes spider charm, a ripped broadcloth pack, some filthy brown robes, a dark band, a pitch black veniom mesh sack trimmed with decaying waern fangs, a sorcerer's guild insignia satchel, some repulsive brown linen trousers, and some pitiful hide shoes.
Sereg says, "The Enchiridian Valentia is a good idea, it preserves knowledge. It was created by Patriarch Eidiol Jivanatha Faendryl who reigned 15 generations BEFORE Despana attacked."
Sereg says, "And in all of that time, none had ever found an arashan from the shien'tyr valence."
Sereg turns to face you.
Speaking to you, Sereg says, "Until Allereli."
You smile at Sereg.
Sereg says, "There are dangers involved."
Sereg says, "The Shien'tyr valence is not forbidden, it has other difficulties."
Sereg says, "And who knows what else may lurk in that darkness."
Sereg says, "But, we can't think that the Bascilica knows everything."
Akaylas gulps.
Sereg says, "And I think they have grown scared of progress."
An uneasy dark grey arashan scratches its forehead with a three-toed foot.
Sereg says, "Going back to the lorae'tyr valence."
Sereg says, "From the little we know, there is the potential for a score of tier three runes to be discovered."
Sereg says, "The verlok itself has three different forms."
Sereg says, "With the ability to only summon magical ones, we could find a new resource for minerals."
Sereg says, "And... the igaesha."
Sereg glances at his brown cloak.
Sereg coughs.
Sereg says, "Well, there are TEN different subtypes of igaesha."
Sereg says, "That we know uf."
Sereg says, "Of, even."
Sereg removes a dingy greyish yellow calico handkerchief mottled with darker stains from in his filthy brown robes.
Sereg coughs.
Sereg put a dingy greyish yellow calico handkerchief mottled with darker stains in his filthy brown robes.
Sereg says, "At least for me, there is obvious areas that we can start looking into."
Sereg says, "I realize the Basilica will not change overnight, and some may find my words treason."
Sereg says, "But, I think recent developments have shown a trend towards willful negligence in their oversight of research."
Sereg smiles.
Akaylas flinches.
Sereg asks, "Well, any questions on my thoughts?"
Akaylas ponders.
Sereg whispers, "I was going to have you speak on using the enchiridion valentia itself since you are the most recent user. I can introduce you."
Lilabell looks lost in thought.
You nod to Sereg.
You quietly whisper to Sereg, "I am well prepared to speak on it."
Sereg says, "Either I have stunned everyone with my brilliance or lost them completely."
Sereg grins.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "I have another question."
Mazir laughs softly, trying to hide his amusement.
Sereg says, "Well, I also wanted to have Allereli speak a bit on the actual Use of the Enchiridion Valentia."
Sereg says, "As we have discovered recently, it has a few unique abilities that I believe every summoning sorcerer should be aware of."
Speaking to Akaylas, Sereg says, "And then we can get to your question and others afterward."
Speaking in Guildspeak to Sereg, Akaylas says, "I can hold my question until she is done, if you'd like."
Sereg nods to you.
You stand back up.
Speaking to you, Sereg says, "If you would be so kind."
You nod to Sereg.
You take a few steps towards a crimson marble dais.
(Sereg walks to the side of the dais)
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "While Sereg has many more years dealing with the Basilica than I do,"
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Being over five times my age..."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "And I certainly respect and do not disagree with his opinion that the Basilica should loosen its control over the magic we wield,"
Sereg smiles.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "There is no denying the fact that they are powerful Faendryl."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "If I had decided to keep the arashan a secret and not reported it to the Basilica, the consequences would have been great."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Most likely a prison cell for the rest of my life."
Tendrils of mist float around a cloud of pale blue nyle.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "While true in my case that the summoning was unintentional, should ye ever summon a demon not approved by the Basilica, ye may wish to tell them the same, whether true or not."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Of course some of ye would welcome a potential war, but I did not."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you warn, "The Basilica will find out if ye summon an unapproved demon, do not doubt me on this, and they will come to investigate."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Should ye wish to comply with the Basilica's wishes, it is easy to do using your Enchiridion Valentia."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you inquire, "I assume everyone has a copy of the Valentia?"
Berrigan nods.
Lilabell removes a sigil-chased dark leather volume from in her black gauze pelisse.
Capalodius examines his fingernails.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Please raise your hand if ye do not."
Capalodius whistles tunelessly to himself.
Lilabell lightly rubs the edges of her dark leather volume and a tangled spiral of star-like sigils briefly fades into life upon the weathered cover before fading away.
Capalodius raises his hand.
You nod to Capalodius.
Akaylas removes a sigil-chased dark leather volume from in his polished silver case.
Mazir raises his hand.
You open a formal ruby red mantle stitched in ebon black with twining thorny vines.
You remove a sigil-chased dark leather volume from in your ruby red mantle.
You close a formal ruby red mantle stitched in ebon black with twining thorny vines.
Akaylas begins chuckling at a sigil-chased dark leather volume!
Speaking in Guildspeak to Mazir, you say, "I'm sorry, I only have one extra copy, ye may buy yours in the library of any guild, for 75,000 silvers."
You offer your dark leather volume to Capalodius, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Click CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.
Capalodius has accepted your offer and is now holding a sigil-chased dark leather volume.
Capalodius bows to you.
Mazir nods to you.
Capalodius opens his dark leather volume, its pages crisply falling against one another.
Berrigan just opened a charcoal grey spidersilk cloak clasped with a carmine-starred dragonfire emerald.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you explain, "Using the Enchiridion Valentia is easy."
Capalodius closes his dark leather volume.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you explain, "To record a demon ye have summoned, turn it to page thirteen and WAVE it at the demon."
Speaking to you, Sereg asks, "If I may interrupt briefly?"
Speaking in Guildspeak to Sereg, you say, "Of course."
Sereg says, "On that note, for the record to be successful, you must be in control of the demon itself."
You adopt an agreeable expression.
Sereg says, "So if fumble and an Occloth shows up, don't try waving your Enchiridion Valentia at it."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Good point, unlike Sereg I have never found myself in that situation."
Sereg blushes a nice shade of pink.
Sereg nods to you.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "Continuing..."
Sereg whispers, "That was all I wanted to say."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you explain, "To get to a new line on page thirteen, NUDGE the book."
Capalodius rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "There are spaces there to record a good number of demons."
Speaking in Guildspeak, you explain, "And should ye become lucky enough to summon a new archetype, simply POINT it at the demon and the Basilica will start its investigation."
Lilabell rubs her chin thoughtfully.
Capalodius put a sigil-chased dark leather volume in his sailcloth gloves.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you inquire, "Any questions on the Valentia?"
The powerful look leaves Lilabell.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you ask, "Or for me specifically about the arashan?"
Lilabell put a sigil-chased dark leather volume in her black gauze pelisse.
You nod to Sereg.
Sereg smiles.
Speaking in Guildspeak, you say, "I will turn the floor back to Sereg then."
(Sereg walks back to the center of the dais)
You sit down.
Sereg removes a sheaf of crumbling paper from in his brown cloak.
Sereg rubs his gold-rimmed spectacles.
Sereg squints at a sheaf of crumbling paper.
Sereg nods.
Sereg says, "Well, I am willing to take questions, answers, and comments."
Sereg grins.
Sereg says, "I believe Akaylas is first in line."
Akaylas grins.
Sereg nods to Akaylas.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "You mentioned before the four tribes of the Grik, and the lack of our arche-type specific runes for them."
Sereg nods to Akaylas.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas asks, "You also mentioned an interest in examining how these tribes interact outside of their home valence. While I question their ability to act of their own will at all while under our control, couldn't we perhaps investigate this ourselves with a bit of effort and persistence?"
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas asks, "Moreover, I was wondering if you had a hypothesis you would be willing to share with us about what this interaction may be?"
Sereg says, "Well, that is a very good point."
Sereg says, "However, I think that by making the effort and truly relearning the process of discovering subtype specific runes on the safest valence."
Sereg says, "It will allow us to become confident in the process before attempting to do so on the Lorae'tyr or shien'tyr planes."
Akaylas nods.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Akaylas says, "So this is more of a vehicle for future research in your mind."
Sereg says, "Plus, I think the ability to do large scale experiments involving moving groups of tribal griks would be extremely interesting to many."
Speaking to Akaylas, Sereg says, "For me, however I know many would be very interested in using such."
The glowing black portal flashes brightly as Querthose exits.
A tethered hairy black tarantula arrives.
(Querthose nods to the room briefly)
Sereg says, "Imagine using a single tribe to serve all of the Sorcerers under one roof."
Querthose sits down near you.
Sereg says, "There would potentially be less infighting between griks on this valence."
You nod to Querthose in greeting.
Querthose leans over and whispers, "I am sorry I am late- have I missed much?"
Sereg asks, "Any other questions or concerns this evening?"
You quietly whisper to Querthose, "We're near the end."
Lilabell raises her hand.
Querthose raises his hand.
Mazir raises his hand.
Sereg nods to Lilabell.
You grin.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Lilabell says, "More of asking you to elaborate really."
Speaking calmly to Sereg, Querthose asks, "Can you repeat all of that?"
Sereg chuckles.
Berrigan grins at Querthose.
Speaking in Guildspeak, Lilabell asks, "Could you provide additional insight into your statement that recetnt developments have shown a trend of willful negligence by the Basilica in thier oversights of research?"
Lilabell turns an inquisitive ear towards Sereg.
Querthose frowns.
Akaylas flinches.
Sereg says, "Well, I think that the discovery of an entirely new archetype after thousands of years is something."
Sereg says, "Especially considering that there appears to be a large population of arashan, and we aren't dealing with a single creature."
Lilabell nods slowly.
Sereg asks, "Why hasn't anyone found this before?"
Speaking in Guildspeak, Lilabell thoughtfully says, "I see your point."
Speaking slowly to Sereg, Querthose says, "Well perhaps the problem is our haste to take their words at face value. We know that they have released information about the valences only grudgingly."
Speaking to Lilabell, Sereg says, "And personally, when that is added to the obvious potential to research at least thirteen new uncommon runes on the lorae'tyr valence and more on the grik'tyr..."
Akaylas takes a drink from his hot herbal tea.
Sereg nods to Querthose.
Speaking to Querthose, Sereg says, "They have, but... like I stated earlier the Enchiridion valentia was created fifteen generations before Despana."
Querthose coughs.
Speaking to Querthose, Sereg says, "That is a long time for so little to be discovered."
Sereg turns to face Mazir.
Querthose says, "But the copies of the Valentia we carry are not identical to the actual Valentia."
Querthose darkly says, "We were given a mockery of the actual document."
Sereg nods to Querthose.
Speaking to Querthose, Sereg says, "But, leaving out an entire archetype is simply... negligent... even if they knew about it. If they didn't, it is a lack of research."
Querthose softly asks, "So then, the question is....were they negligent? Or did they simply do their best to discourage research outside of the New City?"
Akaylas flinches.
Speaking to Querthose, Sereg says, "Well, it is well known that Shieltine's ward is hardly effective this far from the Basilica."
Querthose agrees with Sereg.
Sereg says, "But my suggestions don't lead to answers, simply more questions."
Lilabell clears her throat.
Sereg smiles.
(Querthose nods briefly)
Sereg peers quizzically at Lilabell.
Lilabell acts puzzled.
Speaking to Lilabell, Sereg says, "I thought you had something."
Sereg smiles.
Lilabell looks over at Sereg and shakes her head.
Speaking to Mazir, Sereg says, "Go ahead with your question or comment."
Sereg smiles.
Speaking in Guildspeak to Sereg, Mazir asks, "How do you propose research this far from New Ta'Faendryl to be done with any kinda of safety?"
Querthose appears to be trying hard not to grin.
Speaking to Mazir, Sereg says, "That is a significant problem."
Akaylas snickers at Querthose.
Sereg says, "And it goes back to the need for the Basilica to amend its own policies."
Sereg says, "I realize these changes don't happen overnight."
Capalodius says, "I need to be going."
You nod to Capalodius.
Sereg says, "But by continuing on this path, it will only lead to more Sorcerers in open violation of the Basilica's wishes."
Capalodius says, "Thanks for the information."
Sereg nods to Capalodius.
The glowing black portal flashes brightly as Capalodius enters.
Sereg says, "If the basilica was to reopen matters, perhaps things might start moving forward."
Sereg says, "Well, any other questions? ."
Sereg says, "If not, I do have a number of uncommon runestones that I am willing to distribute."
Sereg says, "I have eight copies of every uncommon rune except the lorae'tyr-igaesh and the lorae'tyr-abyran'a."
Sereg says, "So if any of you would like a few, please let me know."
Speaking in Guildspeak to Sereg, Berrigan says, "Thanks for your time and information, its appreciated ."
