I'm sorry this profession has degraded to the majority being scripting/wiztrigger using bumps on a log. It is extremly difficult to play a healing empath that actually takes the time to appraise and heal each person. Seems you can't move without six empaths using some full transfer and heal down script by the time you've appraised the person. It's pathetic and it pisses me off.
And when asking about a room order in the TSC I get laughed at(which was the nicest reaction) not to mention a damned master healer saying....
Mhzentul sleepily says in guild speak, "It's vulture city, keep up, or keep out.
Just plain sad. Can't wait til I can get enough climb ranks to head my dwarf to Zul or EN where you can actually talk to your patients without them getting vultured from underneath you.

I have tried being an empath several times. Each time I threw my hands up in frustration and gave up. I had the same experiences. Most other empaths were zombie healers or had major attitude. There were a few that encouraged me..I wish I could remember their names...Lovely people. However..they are greatly outnumbered.

when I played, I used to be able to keep people goin in room order, even when I was younger. But then again... people were more willing to share back then as well.
It is sad that you have to be a vulture to get anything done now, and I'm more than a little shocked that someone would actually tell you to keep up or keep out.
I was always an empath, but I made it a point to hunt as well... perhaps you could take that approach? It's easier to find people in the field and ask them if you can heal them than it is to wait around in a crowded town area.

I never really encountered that with empaths. I always move over to my patient, appraise them and heal them. If someone heals them after I do that, they get a sufficiently dirty look, and a stern talking to..heh.
I just avoid TSC in the Landing, and heal on off times. Not all of us are Vultures.

Sorry Bob! I didn't mean to delete your post! When I viewed the topic I saw two of them from you that looked exactly the same so I deleted the last one and then they were both gone!
Anyhow, I used to introduce myself as Caels the Warpath. I considered myself quite successful and I was never a vulture (IMHO).

I was wondering what happened when I looked at a thread I posted on earlier and saw Posts: 92. Oh well. I got my 93rd post back now.

When I'm healing, I greatly dislike the competition that arises, especially when the vultures appear. Usually I heal during off-times. There are several places I tend to check when looking for a healing spot. Sometimes I'm lucky and find nobody healing there; sometimes it may actually be busy too (remember, it's off-time). Solhaven sometimes is hurting for healers. The crypt and Voln can sometimes be needing help. Best thing to do is to monitor people's cries for help. Get to know the regulars that visit each site too...it can help. Good luck!

If you want money, go to the dais. If you want experience, go to TSC. If you want a mixture of those two, go to Icemule. If you want a decent amount of roleplay, go to Solhaven. Those are the basic rules of what you get from healing where.
I'm not sure about Ta'Vaalor. My empath's never been there.

Sadly, there is an overpopulation of empaths. When I first rolled Damina, I was told there was a lot of experience and a lot of money...and neither turned out to be true. I've basically kicked Damina out of being my main character for roleplay reasons because it's just too hard to roleplay a profession when you can't find someone who needs you to heal them. Makes me bummed out.
I really enjoy this game. It's too bad most people can't take the time to pull their heads out of their asses to make it even better.

My empath sat in TSC in the Landing for 2 nights last week. She's 14. I was virtually constantly fried for over 2 hours, because it was *just that busy*. In a situation like that, when it's all you can do to keep yourself from bleeding to death or letting an injured person die, then vulture away in my opinion.
On the second night, someone came in and asked if it was a free for all, or if we were being respectful enough to nod to the person we were going to heal. I said, in guild, it's too busy, but go for it if you'd like. Then I whispered to her that it'd been screen scroll from hell and people were bitching that we were too slow as it was.
My response to that impatient adventurer was, "It won't help if the empaths bleed to death. Be with you as soon as we can."

I know that in my time as an Empath, I have only healed at TSC during invasions, early morning when there are no other empaths and I can't walk away from injured (Sovyn requirement ^_^ ), or when I allowed my friend to play while I was on vacation. I made a conscious decision when I made Zeph to heal in certain locations only and get the majority of my learning from hunting. Places I used to heal at: Abandoned Inn (dead), the boulder (pre dueling phase, dead), North Gate (dead), Crypt (practically dead). Basically. if you want to be a sit around empath, you're just going to have to deal with TSC. My advice? reallocate toward hunting and relearn the old joys of field healing. My original purpose!
