1640 and spirit control ranks:

Does any and all failures for 1640 = same result? If so, is it an insta-decay like the botched Cleric rezz?

Are there any Paladins who use it, and what can you tell me about it, specifically related to 1640 failing (the rest I understand, from the boards, but I wanted to know about spirit sending and if there is a gradation in failures, etc.)

From my understanding, 1640 has the same success/failure percentage rate that 318 does with Spirit Mana control. (If I recall correctly, it's exactly the same mechanical system underneath both spells, working between 318/1640 and SMC.)

Of course, my paladin(s) don't have access to 1640, so I don't know this first hand, so I couldn't tell you for sure. :shrug:
