I just want to chime in because I'm OCD and it's sorta off topic/on topic BUT ... punching people in the face is generally not a good idea. Why do you think boxers where gloves?

Give them an open hand slap to the ears or a chop to the throat over the internet.

Or risk breaking your 5th metacarpal on a strike to their skull... or splitting their lip and busting your knuckles open on their bleeding lip/teeth and enjoying hepatitis... hiv...mono... wtf ever they have.


Trust me. Ear clap or throat chop. Or if you're really serious chop their clavicle in half.... they snap pretty damned easy with a open fisted chop. Oh don't forget right below the sternum you can give a fairly light blast to the solar plexus and put and end to almost any confrontation.

I'm ambidextrous so lucky for me I have both pinky fingers making me look like a lobster baby.

I've heard - can't quite remember where - that bare-knuckle fighting is actually much safer than traditional boxing. It's MUCH bloodier, much more brutal looking, but the sharp blows is a lot easier on the head than the cousioned hits of boxing gloves.

Over the years, far more people have been killed with a boxing glove than in bare-knuckle fistfights.

Boxing gloves I do not know about, but the bag gloves are not something to fuck around with. Its pretty much just enough padding so that you don't break your hand, but not enough to pad the impact of the blow. Basically, you can hit a person as hard as you can, without good technique, and not break your hand, allowing you to hit them more....

On top of that, it's absurd that you think you know just how many people die in bare-knuckle boxing on a year-by-year basis. You can't possibly know when they happen, where they happen, or how many times they happen to any certain degree. Head out of ass, please.

I read it like he was comparing modern boxing to organized fights before the Marquess of Queensberry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquess_of_Queensberry_rules) rules were accepted as the standard rules to boxing.
