Please. I don't choose who they are or what they sing. But you have to admit some good singers come out on this show. I like to listen.

It's much more entertaining than listening to the same fucking songs on the radio all day.

I can admit that a few seasons of American Idol have sucked big time.. last year for one, but some really really good artists have come from there. David Cook will be someone I listen to well after this season is over just like I did/do Chris Daughtry. What is wrong with a talent contest? I fail to see how listening to people sing, giving them a recording contract is "horrible reality tv".

Michael Johns wouldn't have won by a long shot, but he should have beat a few of those other people on there, he was pretty good.

Uh, maybe because every bit of the show up until the however many finalists, it's all about showcasing the most HORRIBLE people who audition in each city. The majority of it isn't a contest, it's a fucking train wreck. That factor makes it exactly like any other reality tv - complete dogshit.

(Not to mention Paula Abdul, ick).

I wouldn't call that the majority of the show, it's appox 4 weeks, I usually skip watching that part, though it's my daughters favorite part.. she has a bit of a mean streak and likes to laugh at people. So.. other than the 4 weeks in Jan. the rest of it is actually a contest. I dont like Paula either, she's an embarrassment to women most of the time, but hearing new artists is worth the few minutes of her talking.

I dont really care if you or anyone else likes it or not.. I'm really just wondering why there's people that hate listening to find out if there's some good new artists out there. I'll admit there's some painful ones in the mix, but.. generally I'm pretty happy to hear new people.

I haven't watched the show, but I heard a snippet of this on the radio the other day. I think that version's pretty cool (although, now after seeing him, he is definitely not cool).

I heard this version at the end of the movie years ago, sounds cool, no idea which professional singer sang it, got it on my itunes with no name next to it.

I don't like that he mimicked the version and people think it's his own.

I am so happy Cook won! (I couldn't vote because I was at the Eagle's concert.) This competition wasn't only about the best singer/vocals like Randy Jackson said, it's about the best entertainer. Glad to see Simon saved face before they announced the winner. Archuletta irked my nerves with his Darth Vader like breathing.

my 15 year old daughter wanted Cook to win badly and squealed so loud that I'm sure I saw the dog cowering in the corner. So maybe we should lower the age limit on the girls for David A to preteens.

I myself am really happy David Cook won too.. though I would have been sort of happy if he didn't too, since it might mean we'd get a real CD out of him sooner, but whichever, great for him.

Not by a longshot.

Can't deny that he has a good voice, but everything sounds the same from him, and what he did to Imagine with all the damn runs on every line was just putrid. I'm not sure what the judges were listening to, but it sounded nothing like the actual song, had no tempo, and it was basically some kid with a good voice butchering the fuck out of a classic JL tune while basically telling everyone "suck my dick because I've got a good voice and I need to show it off in every line".

American Idol is garbage. The whole point of the show is to create a viable market for an artist before the artist has even recorded anything, but every winner except Kelly Clarkson has failed to succeed.

In a world of one hit wonders.. 2 highly successful winners isn't so bad.. and when you add in the others that didn't win but made it pretty big such as Daughtry and ones that aren't doing too bad like Kelly Pickler and Bucky and even Jordin Sparks isn't doing too bad, though I dont see her lasting very long.. I'd say over all American Idol hasn't done too bad for the music industry.

I have no doubt that David Cook will do amazing, I already can't wait until he releases stuff.

Anyone else notice how pissed off looking Amanda was through the whole show? Everyone of the top 12 were like smiling and enjoying doing the show and Amanda had the whole whoopie fuckin do la la la can I leave now look.

I want to know what Jordans wardrobe person was thinking putting her in that god aweful Muppets dress.

ZZ Top was the highlight and so was Carrie. David Cook was the obvious choice, not the best voice that would have gone to MJ or hell Syesha looked and sounded the best on the last show.

David A is going to make more then Cook in the long run, Disney is going to snatch his little self up for all their sappy songs in their movies.

Every time I watched David A. perform, I felt like I was trapped on "It's a Small World" at Disney or something. He'd be perfect for the Nickelodeon/Disney music machine, but not for mainstream radio.
