I find tsc annoying at best. Tayre is a vulture but who the hell cares. It's not the worst behaviour I've seen. Empaths actually started healing without permission just to get around him. Funny. I've gotten a lot of vitriol from other empaths and other people, some flat out telling me to report Tayre to get him shut down. I've seen a ton of people spam "Healing" to try to set off the script.

People cause far more disruptions trying to trip him up than what he does. If I worked TSC with Tayre, I have no doubt I could learn a good amount, because we've learned to respect one another.

While I don't use the same approach he does, it seems to me that we serve different types of people. Tayre works for people who just want to be healed as quickly as possible so they can go about their business. I help people who would prefer a more RP'd interaction.

I have no problem at all with what Tayre does. We have different approaches that can complement each other quite nicely.

I watched TSC last night for a bit while Tayre was there. It was rather funny to watch people get their panties in a bunch.

Senato is good people. He's how an empath should act.

Tayre was funny to watch up until he and Jamus got into it after Jamus shut down psinet to see if his system was laggy. Then I decided to run a few more rescues.

My only suggestion for an adjustment to the script: if you're going to forego nodding, which is fine with me, if another empath (not Medicaturd) starts healing before yours, you don't heal after they start. You did vulture on my empath the other day, but while I don't care enough, I'm sure others do, especially if they're good enough to be faster than your bot.

while that is very true i can't see a problem with that, not everyone likes to hunt and the good thing about gemstone is that there is a profession where you don't need to hunt and you can sit on your ass and Tayre does appear to be needlessly causing strife for some people within the game.

As the player of an empath, I don't mind what Tayre's doing. However, I don't work TSC, so that should be taken into account, but I did when I started out. Right now I hunt, work in Solhaven, RP or work triage during invasions.

Town square has always been a race to be the first to 'claim' a patient. Every now and again, if you get a group of people who prefer to work together over competing, you'll get people who take turns, but that's never to be expected.

It seems to me that people are complaining mostly because Tayre seems to be 'too good' and is taking all of the patients. Thing is, it seems to me that Tayre is perfectly willing to work with people if they approach him reasonably and politely. I don't use any tools in making healing faster or easier. No scripts, no macros, no point and click. I type out all my healing commands by hand, making me substantially slower than almost any person, yet Tayre pulls back to make sure I can work in TSC when I stop by.

I don't like the thought that all the other empaths playing have to get on Tayre's good side to get any healing experience in, in my opinion it's Tayre thats being unreasonable and impolite and the only reason he would appear to be doing that is because he gets a rise out of it as a player other wise he wouldn't be using that script or modifying it to be more game friendly.

To be honest, I rather like working with Tayre, which is saying something since I used to hate people who script the way he does. We both have our niches, and given we respect one another, I highly doubt we'd have any problems. We accept we have different approaches, and I'm having a great time even if I don't heal that many people. I don't play this game to get as much experience and levels as I can in the shortest amount of time, but to have fun along the way. I'm having fun, so it's all good.

You're wrong. about 80% of the time I turn the script off when I'm fried (Unless, like i've stated, medicuntrix is in the room). It takes a LOT more for me to get fried than empaths half my level. And my near max'd stats make for fast absorbtion.

Not only what warriorbird said, but make sure you are only using a telnet window to play the game and not the wizard or stormfront. Because otherwise you'd have an advantage over someone who wasn't because they have to type "health" and "mana" by hand and you get all that information by cheating and using displays. It's just not fair for you to be better than someone else because you have an advantage.

I totally agree that carrying on in game and making a fuss about it is the wrong approach, but non of this fuss and bother would be going on if Tayre just sorted the script out because it is upsetting people and it's making TSC 10x worse than it ever was even to the casual observer. There is more than one room in this fucking game, he can't be in all the rooms at the same time. Move to another room. Or maybe a better suggestion, instead of sitting there waiting for free experience to come to you, go out and find your own, learn to hunt etc. There is more than one way to get experience in the game, don't just rely on the easiest.

Because otherwise you'd have an advantage over someone who wasn't because they have to type "health" and "mana" by hand and you get all that information by cheating and using displays. 2. I think this is hilarious. My empath will sit in TSC when there are 5 people yelling for healing, and the worst wound they have is a 1 per arm bleeder. Then I'll laugh at them and go bone shatter some creatures for a bounty.

3. As long as the player is sitting there, watching all the script constantly, there's not a lot you can do about it. If I had made a healing script like this, you can bet I'd sit around to watch the traditional TSC vultures get angry.

How to fix this problem? Doing 2 things:

Split the empath profession into two separate professions.

The First are pure healers who receive a great deal of experience for healing, and have 1/2 alternate ways of making experience. In return, their ability to hunt is severely curtailed.

The second from the split are empaths who can heal their own wounds, but either cannot heal others, or can but do not gain much if any experience from doing so. In return, they are extremely adept at combat.

Next, complicate the wound system. (and ready the pitch forks)

Wounds received from standard wounds are able to be healed via the normal herb system. Wounds received from elemental or special type damage sources (holy/curse/etc) require special herbs to be blended with regular ones, thus making healing down more complicated, and bringing empaths into greater demand.

In conclusion, fuck empaths. Everyone should just use herbs.

Given equal amounts of in-bucket experience, all empaths get the same amount of experience for every wound - the specific amounts are listed in the PsiNet library file I made. You're welcome to test it out with your own empath if you don't believe me, though! :)

I've definitely got to say that TSC was not the be all end all of healing locations. As others have pointed out, the healer's tent, inside the North Gate, and, in what was probably a very short-lived initiative, the Park were all locations for healing. As for the Raging Thrak (and Trevor Dabbings), I'm curious about how many new players go there (or even know to go there) anymore. 3000 exp that early isn't as huge now as it was back when I first started in 95-96, but it's still 3000 essentially free exp.

It also seemed to me that mentioning the old post might elicit some understanding of the reason(s) that some of the current empaths (might) have for feeling the way they do. While I'm no fan of Rocksand/Medicatrixrayah, and definitely don't like the way she handled things, I'm inclined to think that at least some of the complaints (whether made by her or by others) are reasonable.

The 'explanation' :

For many years, healing was offered at both North Gate and in TSC of the Landing. I don't see any reason to discourage a return to this practice, should the players demonstrate a desire for it. A group of players decided to work at North Gate this evening, with a couple of senior empaths taking the time to teach "younger," less experienced empaths. This is something that has been lacking in TSC of late as too many empaths grab wounds, barely interact with their patients, and the "community" feeling has waned.

As you have noted, the sign says "Temporary." This is a bit of an experiment. I imagine that TSC will remain the central spot for healing, but who's to say that a town with such a massive population can't support two healing stations, just as many large cities have numerous hospitals. This spreads the opportunities for experience among more people and, frankly, I'm inclined to support efforts from players who wish to slow things down, roleplay more, and teach more. I think that kind of cooperation among players is what distinguishes GemStone from other RPGs.
