Apparently this forum is smarter than I am. I want to be able to ignore topics so that when I hit New Posts it only lists new posts from the un-ignored topics. What am I missing here?
Thanks in advance,

It's not possible.
Well that's ridiculous. What good is "New Posts" then? There's a new post every minute, I ain't got that kind of time. Guess I'll just track the one or two topics I'm most interested in. Baloney.

Ok, every time you post in a thread you are automatically subscribed. You can tell because there is a little blue “check” icon all the way to the right in the box that contains the thread’s title.
You can also subscribe to any thread by clicking on the thread’s title and using the drop-down menu Thread Tools>Subscribe to this thread. You will have an option on if you want email notifications whenever someone posts in that thread, and which of your subscription folders you want it to go into.
Subscription folders can be created in your User Control Panel, or User CP. The default folder is titled “Subscribed” but you can create more. You can view the contents of each folder also by visiting User CP>Subscribed Threads.

It was even worse when the user diaries came out, half of "Today's posts" would be some stupid diary.
