ok .. please help. Last week my printer stopped printing.. Yes its connected, turned on ect. So I delete it and try to reinstall. Put my disk in and there's a huge scratch on it. (have I mentioned I hate my kids lately?) So it gets 73% done and stops.
I go to the HP website and it reinstalls my driver but won't finish keeps returning me to reinstall the driver. Huge loop that I'm caught in.
When I first tried to reinstall the printer it tells me to insert the ME disk. Did that didn't help. So where do I go from here in short of reordering the disk. Any idea's?
Thanks for any tips.

OK since I'm not getting any response I went back and tried again. These are the error messages that I'm getting/missing. Please if anyone knows how to fix this I would be grateful.

I know this isn't the answer you want to hear but .. get rid of Windows ME. It's a big steaming turd of an OS version.

Try this. Download the driver from HP. Delete the printer completely from your system. Disconnect the Printer. Reboot. Reconnect printer. Then go to the Add New Hardware thing in Control Panel and Scan for New Devices. Hopefully it'll find your printer. When it asks for a driver point it to the one you downloaded.

That may work. If not - call Bill Gates. He probably knows how to fix it.

All I have to say is good luck. My printer would shut down my computer at random. We got a new one... this one doesn't shut down the computer but it does decide when it wants to refuse to print.

If your printer has a troubleshooting module installed, have you tried that yet?

Whenever I have an electronic device that doesn't work right all I do is kick it until it behaves :saint:

un/reinstall drivers. simple.

drivers are easily corrupted or damaged and need to be replaced quite often.

Especially printer drivers, in my experience, for some reason.

Someone else suggested the same that I'm suggesting..go to the HP website and find the files you listed in the above quote. Download them. Then go to your add/remove hardware thing in ME, and "remove" your printer. Then "add" your printer back.

As for ME, I've heard all the horror stories, and I have ME as well, and I have to say I've never experienced too many problems with it. If you get the screen freeze that it's famous for, download a little applet called Rambooster. You'll find it in a google search. I don't keep it running, though you can..but instead I just activate it when I open my web browser, then shut rambooster off after it's cleared up my ram. Takes just a couple of seconds to activate it and de-activate it, and I never get any screen freeze.

You don't need to add that to the list, it was already on it. I got my CompTia A+ Certification in late 2001. Try not to be so obvious about your obsession with MY education and experience. Maybe work on your own instead, hm?

I got my CompTia A+ when I was 15, in 2000. Not only did I get mine before you, I was probably 20 years younger.

So die.

Also, A+ doesn't do you a whole lot. Get your MCSE or at least a MCDS then talk to me.

You can also add 'Ability to communicate' down for her as well. Your big help was "What is the model of your printer?" which, to be honest was a pretty worthless question that you didn't need the answer to in order to give advice.

And the age comment wasn't necessary.. your immaturity is quite apparent.

Actually, I was going to provide a link to the driver in a detailed walkthrough of how to solve the problem and I needed the model in order to get the right one, but I got busy over the past 2 days and never got around to it.

Again, die.
