I understand what they do, but have no idea how to do it. I was told to try measure coffer, and whatnot, but nothing happened. Nothing. Not a can't find it, not a what are you trying to do, etc. Just nothing. So then, am I to assume I must be in the guild?

Except I put in the command you use when you are doing it...
I think I threw a caliper use script for LM reps in the script folder... if you're not doing LM reps, then using a caliper is a waste of time and effort.

why would he care if he's not in the guild? his rogue is only level 5.

Yeah good point, getting to level 15 will take years... no point in attempting to retain knowledge of the command till then. They'll probably nerf the command and make you type 7 different things, with RT inbetween and do calculus by then.

okay, you're a douche too. one, he has multiple characters. i don't know how often he plays his rogue. may take a few weeks. whether or not they "nerf the command," the ability to use calipers is introduced in such a way that they hold your hand and walk you through the process.
i doubt he'll need to come back on here to search through the boards to find a thread where someone mentioned how to measure a lock using calipers

so you don't have to retain knowledge about something to which this thread pertains, but he's supposed to retain knowledge about a command that he won't end up using until who knows when? good call.

OH NOEZ, TEH MOM JOKES. YOU WIN TEH INTERNETS!
Yes, he has to retain this knowledge because after tomorrow this thread will vanish. And he is also the only person who ever reads these boards, no one else could possibly benefit from it.
Next time, I'll do a search or better yet, I'll start keeping a PC poster journal.

Yeah, not so much. I use calipers for almost every box as master of LFM. Being able to nail down the lock size to a range of about 40 makes it really easy to choose the right pick for exp without having to break many or overshoot it. My readings are rarely wrong and usually its when the lock is right near (+-5) from the range that I read. And it takes a max of 10 seconds (usually less) to measure, though calibrating may also slow you down if you want them to be remain accurate. However, since my picking RTs are only 4 or 5, the small increase in time for measuring is overshadowed by the huge RT reduction and the fact that you almost always have the right pick for exp on your first attempt.
