New Gemstone Server?

So earlier today, there was an in-game announcement about coming over to the new server and playing with items, etc etc.

I log on the GS Official website, go to character selection, and there's a "Gemstone Test" tab on the left for us to log into. Went in for 5-10 minutes and then it crashed (or was pulled).

Now when you try logging in, it says try back Sunday afternoon.

What could this be? New test server? Testing out a 64-bit server? Testing a server for The Fallen? Testing Unarmed Combat? Testing auction items?

No clue here, just trying to raise some eyebrows. Neat stuff.

The test instance before GS IV went live was pretty fun to mess around in. Insta-migration, uber gear, etc.

If for no other reason than fun, it'd be nifty if they kept an instance up to play in. I'd much rather pay an extra $10 a month for something like that in place of a festival.

Well it's still down, but I assume this is identical to DR's server upgrade. They've had their 64 bit tester up for 2 weeks now. Should be fun to fuck around on a test instance.

Wonder if there's any chance they'd keep the 32 bit version for The Fallen?

That would be a smart and logical decision for Simutronics, and something that would be overall good for the game as well as probably bring back lots of old players that have since quit or been banned and be great fun for everyone.

No. It won't show on SGE for most people. You have to go through the website.

For anyone, like myself, using Avalon and can't get in. This is what i did. Signed into play.net, clicked play now and it gives you three tabs on the left to choose, prime, plat then one marked test. Click on the test one, choose your character then click play, it'll ask you to download a sal file. When thats done double click on it and wahlah your in.

Took my bard in. Got this from the greatshield... to tired to sing to other stuff and I want to watch last weeks JA before tonight’s episode airs.

It provides a bonus of 9 to Combat Maneuvers Bonus.
This enhancement may not be used by adventurers who have not trained 19 times.
The greatshield looks to have a huge number of charges remaining.

They took a character snapshop from a while back, at least a couple weeks. Nilandia was a level lower in the test server compared to how she is in the live game.

Yea, I eventually made my way from Zul to the Landing and saw the huge kill fest that was going one. There are some real nice weapons to play with, EBows, corasine weapons, tons of fun toys.

Then they should make a fresh server as an alternate world (feel free to include heavy RP enforcement, Plat style, and harsher rules against multiaccounting and such) for people to start anew in.

I've sold 90% of my things, so the impact to me is essentially none. Plat is a failed experiment, it should not impact Prime at all.

About 2 and a half hours ago they announced that they were going to do some 'internal' testing and get things 'more in sync with the live game', whatever that means. They said it would be down, but failed to state for how long.

I haven't tried it recently, but I imagine it's still down due to this.

Haha, it was funny as hell on the test an hour or so ago. I was sporting my "The Cake is a lie" t-shirt and switched to my "I wanna be an Abwsoihifh monk in 2008" T-shirt.

They had fake level 100 potions. Lothwyn and a couple other gm's were there fucking around with people. They spawned some monk NPC that had a 2000+ CS. The 665 point weapon fires were a killer hehe.

I have been playing around going after creatures I wouldnt risk in the real instance. I macroed healme and it just doesnt heal it sets you to full defense as well as max mana.

They just put a shit-load of good stuff in the pile outside the bank... 10x CB boots, +20 to all stats pinworn enhancive, self-mana spell items, items that give you knowledge of spells, immolation items... items from the last EG auctions (prime & plat), greater shadow vambraces, etc.

(And by "just put," I mean they started about five hours ago, and I quit out about an hour ago... seemed like them putting stuff out was dying out about then.)

Wear glove, raise glove, fire, and you can clench it for god mode. Mace sure you have "healme\r stance offensive\r" as a macro.

I always thought a neat idea would be to have a really small 'nursery town' where new players could learn some really basic skills along with learning not to use chat room terms and some basic RP skills.
