I just had to share this. A friend of mine just had one of the most trying weeks I have ever heard about. Firstly, she was diagnosed with condrosacronoma (bone cancer that spreads rather fast) and has been dealing with numerious surgeries to remove the lumps that have been popping up.
Monday-She finds yet another lump in her thigh. Off to the doctor and they schedule a surgery for Wednesday.
Tuesday-Driving to work, she comes up behind a tow truck towing a car. The car starts to fall apart and she needs to dodge two flying wheels and an axle before the truck pulled over. No damage, everyone's okay. Just a scare. Phew.
Wed.-Day surgery to remove a tumor the size of a gold ball from her leg. Malignant. Home for some rest.
Thurs.-Lots of pain.
Friday-She and her husband are driving to her follow up appointment and they stop just in time on a blind hill avoiding an accident that just happened. It looks pretty bad and they are about to get out of their car and set up flares when her husband glances in his rear view mirror. A transfer truck is on it's side, on fire, and screaming up behind them. Some quick reflexes and manuevering get them safely out of the way but alot of the people stopped behind them we not so lucky. 6 were severely injured, 3 dead on the scene. My friend and her husband were very lucky and managed to get out with only minor damage to their car and bad case of nerves.
She said to me that while running around trying to help everyone, including pulling the driver out of the burning truck, made her realize that nobody is at less risk than the other. Her husband is always worried because she is battling cancer but she survived a horrible crash that took others lives.
So, once she's off the pain meds, we are going to eat, drink and be merry like there is no tomorrow (all within reason of course, teehee).
Makes me happy for all I have.
