Oh, anyone else watching "John Adams"? Fucking fantastic.

I am saddened that I do not have HBO for this.

I don't have HBO either, but I was at my rents for easter and caught up... as sad as it sounds I'm actually thinking about spending my Sunday their just to catch up again.

That or I'm going to need to get HBO/pirate.

I DLed John Adams, I'm quite enjoying it.

Great show so far, I've only see two or three episodes (two I think, second one was long), but they've been really good. Kind of like Rome, except less of the amazing battle scenes, but I have a feeling they're coming.

I like Rome better so far, but it's still awesome and Paul Giamatti needs to win an award for it.

Rome kicked some serious ass, I was so sad when it went away... Like I said though, I see a lot of Rome in John Adams, except there haven't been any gruesome battles/depraved sex scenes. While I'm sadly not expecting the gratuitous sex, I'll bet the battles will be cool (not as cool, just cool).

Anyway the politic part is a bit like Rome... and Giamatti's a badass character. No Pullo, but I need to stop comparing things to Rome.

Now when Entourage comes back that'll help fill the void too.

Rome was a really glammed up vision of the time, I'm willing to bet even the hotest romans didn't look as good as the chicks in the show. John Adams seems more accurate... and I agree, not much to look at.

Has anyone read McCulllough's biography?

I'm curious to know how much artistic license Hanks takes with the show. I enjoy most documentaries (lazy learning) -- and so far this show seems like a dramatized documentary. It's not fair to compare Rome and John Adams because Rome was trying to depict a society and based the storylines on a fictional version of non-fiction events. This (in addition to the non-puritan community) made Rome a sexier show in terms of violence and sex. On the other hand, John Adams, is more of a biographical piece that has to more strictly stick to the historical narrative.

Massachusetts Bay Colony=Uptight Puritans
Rome=Orgy celebrating pagans

Not worried about nekkid Paul Giamatti.

Been watching and enjoying this one. Giomatti, well everyone, is doing a fantastic job. The role Adams’ wife played in the whole thing is interesting. The way they portrayed the French when Adams and Franklin go there is hilarious.

I was commenting to a friend on how Washington’s face looked strange, puffy. She said maybe they did that because he was constantly in pain because of his wooden dentures.

I got pretty teary eyed during the second episode, watching all these men had to sacrifice for freedom.

I’m not ashamed to admit the same. Very powerful stuff. Dramatized or not.

It's fucking boring.
