It seems pretty formulaic. cf. Hostel, The Hills have Eyes, etc....hot young people go to some strange place, get fucking slashed like no one's business, most likely involves female nudity when she's trying to show what the fuck is wrong with her.

It started with some flick a coupla years ago where they were all at a cabin and got a weird sickness...it may have even been called The Cabin.

The Cabin didn't start this trend. All the great horror movies (and subsequent less great ones) are loosely made of this formula. I'm talking Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, etc. Teenagers party, have sex. Followed by lots of murderous fun. They may or may not travel somewhere special to do this.

It actually started from a book called the The Ruins written awhile back. The book got alot of good reviews and won some awards if I'm not mistaken.
