I don't know about points but I thought this requirement was interesting:

(3) Soldier and spouse must not have immediate family members who reside in a country within whose boundaries physical or mental coercion is known to be a common practice, either against persons accused of acting in the interest of the United States, or the relatives of such persons to whom they may reasonably be considered to be bound by ties of affection, kinship, or obligation. Near relatives will also include uncles, aunts, grandparents, father/mother-in-law, and relationships corresponding to any of the above persons as legal guardians or next of kin (AR 630-5 and 37 USC 501).

Points were 528 when i picked it up, They had been sitting around 798 for about 5 months however they dropped to about 620 the month before and down to pick me up. i was sitting at 552

Its not much for me now since I work with civilians mostly and wear a suit and tie instead of rank nowadays, but its more pay which is the big thing

Nice thing is E-6 has been sitting at 450 for almost a year now, if it stays around the same i can pick it up in a year or year and a half

That. Is amazing. I hope you make colonel by '10. 3010?

Good job, I'm still ranked as Feudal Serf and working my way down to Indentured Servant.

Cant have a access to information sensitive to national security if you have factors in your background which make you more likely to commit espionage.

Elvis from Perfect Dark, as well.

Edited to Add: At least it was easier to get BOOM headshots, overall. Still though.

OMG. I understand the policy. I even agree with the policy. I just thought it was interesting because prior to... I didn't know how the government addressed the policy.

I promise to never post something I think is interesting again (without a detailed explanation).

Peter Gibbons: Yeah. I got the memo. And I understand the policy. And the problem is just that I forgot the one time. And I've already taken care of it so it's not even really a problem anymore. "Office Space"

I don't remember why you changed your handle to "sst", but "Sarge" would be a pretty sweet handle. I'm just sayin'.

Essentially, the military controls promotions in enlisted ranks to Sargeant and Staff Sergeants through a point system. Your points are based on things like, Physical Fitness Score, Rifle Marksmanship, Awards, College Education, Performence evaluations and some other things.

So, once you become eligible for promotion (By being reccomended by senior leaders in your command) you calculate how many points you have.

The Department of the Army then looks at how many people they want to promote and how many people in a particular MOS (Job) are eligible. If A is less then B then they use the points to determine who gets promoted first. Therefore, the more points you have the liklier you are to get promoted.

In some Jobs where A is zero they simply put the points at the max until they actually have room to promote people. So, you're still eligible but you won't get promoted until DA lowers the points to your level or you get more points.

In the Marines you only have a score to get promoted from Pvt through Sgt. After that it is based off a FitRep, which is more of a written report on how good you are in every different aspect of your job and the military way of life.
