This morning, when I walked to my car to go to work, I remember driving away under sniper fire. I drove down the road with my head down to get down to the end of my street. Now that is what happenend.
To be clear, there are snipers on the planet. I was not in any sort of danger.
Over the last week we had...
Hillary Clinton: Misremembering her trip to Bosnia.
John McCain: Confusing Al Qadea with Iran and now dealing with campaign finance issues.
Barrack Obama: Addressing an issue America faces with honesty and eloquence.
The media: How they covered all those stories.
PS. It wasn’t CBS that exposed the Hillary/Sniper story. lrn2internetz.

Obama wasn't addressing it with honesty and eloquence, he was doing damage control because he doesn't want white people to know how much of an America-hating racist he really is.

Lets keep our fingers crossed that some footage of Obama sitting in the same room when Wright is talking nonsense surfaces.
Actually, after a reporter came forward for NPR and verified that Wright was indeed present for at least one of the sermons, Obama's story did change.
The video that the McCain staff member produced (and was later fired for) showed how Obama changed his story as the time progressed.

Keep in mind, the video is pretty politically inflammatory. But it covers the clips where Obama modified his story.

(CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton said she "misspoke" last week when she gave a dramatic description of her arrival in Bosnia 12 years ago, recounting a landing under sniper fire.
Clinton was responding to a question Monday from the Philadelphia Daily News' editorial board about video footage of the event that contradicted her assertion that her group "ran with our heads down" from the plane to avoid sniper fire at the Tuzla Air Base, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for rival Sen. Barack Obama's campaign, said the Bosnia claim was part of "a growing list of instances in which Sen. Clinton has exaggerated her role in foreign and domestic policymaking."
Clinton (http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/candidates/hillary.clinton.html) told the paper's editorial board it was a "minor blip."
"I say a lot of things -- millions of words a day -- so if I misspoke, that was just a misstatement," she said.
In a foreign policy speech last week at George Washington University, Clinton used the description of the dangerous arrival to bolster her argument that she has the foreign policy experience needed to be commander in chief.
She said when she arrived in Bosnia (http://topics.cnn.com/topics/Bosnia_and_Herzegovina) on March 25, 1996, "I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
But news video footage of her arrival at Tuzla shows Clinton, then the first lady, calmly walking from the rear ramp of a U.S. Air Force C-17 transport plane with her daughter Chelsea, then 16, at her side. Both Clintons held their heads up and did not appear rushed as they walked toward the group waiting on the tarmac to welcome them.
The video shows Clinton spending several minutes talking with the group, including an 8-year-old Bosnian girl who presented her with a poem, and later greeting U.S. troops.
Clinton has mentioned the sniper fire at least twice earlier in the campaign, including in December in Dubuque, Iowa, before the caucuses in that state.
"We landed in one of those corkscrew landings and ran out because they said there might be sniper fire," Clinton said. "I don't remember anybody offering me tea on the tarmac when that was happening."
Clinton's campaign has made foreign policy experience a centerpiece of her effort to come back against Obama (http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2008/candidates/barack.obama.html), whom she is trailing in delegates for the Democratic presidential nomination.
During Monday's editorial meeting -- in which Clinton was seeking the Daily News' endorsement ahead of Pennsylvania's April 22 primary -- she was asked about the apparent discrepancy. The newspaper reported her response:
"Now let me tell you what I can remember, OK -- because what I was told was that we had to land a certain way and move quickly because of the threat of sniper fire. So I misspoke -- I didn't say that in my book or other times but if I said something that made it seem as though there was actual fire -- that's not what I was told," she told the newspaper.
"I was told we had to land a certain way, we had to have our bulletproof stuff on because of the threat of sniper fire. I was also told that the greeting ceremony had been moved away from the tarmac but that there was this 8-year-old girl and, I can't, I can't rush by her, I've got to at least greet her -- so I greeted her, I took her stuff and then I left. Now that's my memory of it."
The first lady's official schedule for the day -- made public by the National Archives last week -- said U.S. Ambassador John Menzies would introduce Clinton to the greeters, the Bosnian girl would read her poem and Clinton would meet a seventh-grade class.
The schedule noted that Ejup Ganic, the acting president of Bosnia, would be among those greeting the first lady.
Video footage showed Clinton walking on the tarmac with about a dozen young people, but it was not clear if they were the seventh-graders mentioned on her schedule.
American comedian Sinbad and singer Sheryl Crowe were also on the trip with Clinton, according to the schedule.

I guess I just took it on assumption that Obama's story would change concerning his relationship with his church and pastor. That's just par for the course when you're distancing yourself from someone who's public behavior is fucking up your image.
In my opinion there's a huge difference between Hillary's flat out deceptive account of her Bosnia trip (not only doesn't it match the videos, it doesn't even match her own book) and Obama's problem with pastors (sorry I love alliteration).
Obama began tap-dancing for sure but Hillary was simply lying. I don't see any "misspoke" here.

"It just goes to show that Obama is racist against whities."
From what I have seen, heard and read, it seems that the church in question is not "racist against whities" but the oppressive "white men" in control of the country and the economy. If we could get past this whole divide and conquer bullshit, unite as a people and vote the corrupt establishment out of office en mass then this country would have a good chance of returning to the path of greatness that Thomas Jefferson and the like envisioned for us. Those in power are abusing the populace is ways that are ten fold worse than that which instigated the American Revolution.
Abraham Lincoln may be credited with freeing the slaves, but he only freed the black man by enslaving the rest of us with an unconstitutional income tax system. Still we are divided amongst ourselves along racial lines in a world where the only color that really makes a difference is the almighty green. Martin Luther King preached not racism and division, but unity among the people. He was assassinated, and it was not by James Earl Ray. Malcolm X did preach hate and separation, that was until his Hajj:
"You may be shocked by these words coming from me. But on this pilgrimage, what I have seen, and experienced, has forced me to rearrange much of my thought patterns previously held, and to toss aside some of my previous conclusions...
During the past eleven days here in the Muslim world, I have eaten from the same plate, drunk from the same glass and slept in the same bed (or on the same rug)-while praying to the same God with fellow Muslims, whose eyes were the bluest of the blue, whose hair was the blondest of blond, and whose skin was the whitest of white. And in the words and in the actions and in the deeds of the ‘white' Muslims, I felt the same sincerity that I felt among the black African Muslims of Nigeria, Sudan and Ghana.
We are truly all the same-brothers."
source: http://www.soundvision.com/Info/racism/xletter.asp
He changed his message as well, turning from a divisional view to one that would bring the people together. It was only after that that he too was assassinated as well. I am sure that if Billy Graham started putting up his tent again and took up the same campaign that he too would find himself making an untimely exit. Let's stop beating the racism drum, the real struggle in our country is not black vs. white. It is the powers that be against good, honest hard working people of every color who just want to put food on the table for their kids and see them grow up happy, safe and educated.

Who a person associates with will always impact who they are and what people think of them.
I find it much more troubling that McCain refuses to denounce Rev. Falwell and the rest of the 700 club. Especially considering he did so 6 years ago. I like McCain, a lot. But I have some serious problems with the way he's handled the Christian extremists that have infested the Republican party.

LO-ROFL-L, sorry I missed that one
My Jew-fro can and will reach such proportion, Christ-dammit. The power of His holy rainbow-Brillo compels you.
The campaign of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) is seeking to play down news that the former first lady gave an incorrect account of landing in Bosnia in 1996 under sniper fire, and refused to answer additional questions about a flap that could hurt her chances of catching Sen. Barack Obama (Ill.) in the race for the Democratic nomination.
“We’ve said all we’re going to say on that,” said Deputy Communications Director Phil Singer on a Tuesday morning conference call with reporters.
A video from CBS News had shown that Clinton’s version of having come under sniper fire was not correct. Her campaign chalked up the discrepancy between her account and the video as a case of Clinton misspeaking.
The Obama campaign seized on the story when it was splashed across the CBS website Monday, with spokesman Tommy Vietor saying it is “part of a troubling pattern of Sen. Clinton inflating her foreign policy experience.”
Top Clinton surrogates also sought to play down the story, which could prove to be harmful to the former first lady’s chances.
Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.), who was asked about the flap on MSNBC, referred to it as a “small incident that happened 10 to 15 years ago.”

So..yea. Excuse me if I'm not buying the "Obama is Racist" bullshit.
So you don't think it's racist when someone says "I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race" in their book, calls their grandmother a typical white person, and has a spiritual advisor that hates white people? Would you think John McCain was a racist if he called someone a typical black person and had a spiritual advisor that was in the KKK?

Wait, you're comparing Obama's pastor to a KKK member? Or do you mean his church is a racist organization? I don't recall any accusations of Trinity organizing mobs to abuse whites, or asians, or Jews, or [insert a race]. Horrible comparison.
Just playing devil's advocate.. literally.
I'm going to leave you with a thought. Its something that my fellow neighbor Republican and I were discussing over a beer yesterday evening.
Unless its changed and I've been unaware of. Mitt Romney's campaign still remains in 'suspension'. When he bowed out, he did not officially quit the campaign but merely suspended it. He still owns his delegates, etc.
With that thought in mind, and with the knowledge that McCain has really not faced a real test to his own campaign yet, there still is a remote (very remote) possibility that Romney could re-enter the picture.
I can only picture this scenario if and only if McCain's campaign or himself as a candidate were to face an embarrassment so totally devistating that voters, and the GOP base, would flock to Romney should he reactivate.
And anyone who is familiar with McCain should know that this possiblity (of catastrophe) is not as far fetched as some would like to think.
So yea, chew on that a little.

I was thinking the very same thing.
A better analagy would have been to find someone belonging to an organization that was not inherently racist in nature to begin with, like the KKK.
Now, its not very far fetched to find a common denominator of racism amongst christian churches in the US... especially in some rural segregations in the deep south.
I wonder if you could boil down a common denominator of christianity being racist? I seem to recall many many biblical representations being given to justify why the black man was 'rightly so' inferior to the white man - as evidenced in many many documentaries I've watched over the years.
Hmmmmm.

Heh, I think it's racist on its face to assume McCain's advisor would be white. But to answer your question if McCain's spiritual advisor had behaved the way Obama's did (only focused on blacks) I wouldn't be up and arms about it either. But then I didn't think Imus should have been fired.
I do not agree that Obama's church or pastor preaches racial hatred though at times (like all of us) they may act racist. This doesn't compare them to organizations like the KKK. Period.

There is very little chance of that happening. I think he's set himself up for a run in 2012 or 2016.. or maybe an outside shot at VP. McCain still wouldn't earn my vote with Romney as a VP.
What would be spectacular though is: Obama wins the delegate race and wins the popular vote race.. and loses the nomination to Hillary via the Super Delegates. Oh what fun that would be to watch.

The whole issue of Trinity UCC church being racist is so far from ridiculous it's not even funny. As a congregation, UCC Is probably one of the most socially progressive churchs in the nation. A church that preached hate would never be allowed in.
Furthermore, it's pretty outlandish to take the statements that were said and somehow make the stretch that Wright preached racial hatred. Unless of course, you equate truth (Hillary is not a black man) to somehow preaching hatred.
Which would be stupid, but then again that doesn't help your cause now does it?

First of all, that would make you atypical, since you had exposure to black culture, which I doubt Obama's grandmother had much of when she was growing up.
I would like to see how somebody like PB would handle themselves when they are in a situation where THEY are the minority. When the tables are turned and you don't see anyone else who looks like you in a crowd, you start to understand what it might be like to be a minority on a daily basis.
