Changing Armor AsG Downward

How easy (or hard, as the case may be) is it to have armor AsG altered downward? I am looking for a decent set of Augmented chain, but most of the high end chain armors are hauberks. Thus, I am looking to purchase a nice hauberk and just have the head part lopped off.

Has anyone had this service done? Do armor merchants do this work? I know Snakestone used to do it, but has anyone taken his place?

There are plenty of good non-hauberk chain sets out there... what are you looking for exactly?

I know of NO other merchants besides Snakestone who offer this merchant, and of course Khaladon is gone. HOWEVER, there are a few people out there who have a ticket to get this manner of work done. A GM *MAY* be cool enough to honor said ticket if you can get your hands on one. Or...they could just be worth an alteration these days.

8x-10x HCP augmented chain would do the trick. Again, I see them often in hauberk form, but not in chain.

Uh, this service was offered during the last Grand Auction? I haven't witnessed it since then (although it's been done.) Umm, might be a really good thing to ask on the official bulletin boards more than once.
