a 2nd attempt to unlock it was unsuccessful, and in my referral I was told it has no value (me: but, um, a scroll that has never been used with these spells has got to have value, and why is it still phasing?). I also ended up with Zyllah, whose advice on technical aspects I just can't respect, so I'm in line to see a SGM

Did you use 125 to open the box? Scrolls that are burnt by blowing up boxes lose all value. Some scrolls just have burnt as an adjective.

yes i understand that, but my question is should it have phased? or been capable of being unlocked?

Yes, it is a known bug, but don't bother suggesting it should be fixed on the boards, as Nilven isn't listening.

Basically, the scroll ACTS as though it is fresh. You can phase it, you can unlock the spells, you can even put mana into it, wasting time, mana, resources.

However, the scroll was locked all along because you obtained via someone using 125 to open a box. The problem is not ALL burnt scrolls gen this way. Some gen naturally and work just fine. They should change the adjective of one's from 125 to "Singed" or sommat.

Sucks, I know.

So what, phasing is a way to check if it can be infused without using a runestone thing?

Fallen

Yes. If it CAN be phased, that means it is fresh (aside from the bug detailed above), if the scroll is "resistant to your magic!" it is locked, and cannot be unlocked/infused.

Alyias says, "It is indeed functioning as it should be. As it's built right now, it's not infusable, even though it does have four spells unlocked."

Alyias says, "It's just set so that it's not able to be infused and charged up."

Alyias says, "And, like I said, wether or not that was on purpose by the scrolls creator, or an accident, we can't tell."

Alyias says, "Since we have no history of the vellum."
