Digital Camcorder Help

So...my little sony cybershot can take tiny videos, but it's just a digital camera so they don't always come out the best quality.

Now that we're getting ready to have a baby, I decided it's time to invest in a digital camcorder (and I'm trying to talk the in-laws into buying it for me).

Soooo...any advice on what type of Digital Camcorder to get? I have no clue about brands or quality or speed or anything since I've never owned a camcorder.

I welcome any suggestions! HPEL!
