FaceBook is less sucky.
I open it and it's just one big app. With a lot of other little, annoying appz. It lets me private message my professors who I'm extra chill with as opposed to MySpace, which'd be too risky for that sort of endeavour.

I don't get Facebook at all. I have a profile on both. But everyone is all, "Facebook doesn't have all that annoying shit on it like Myspace!" Yet, I get Ninja'd, Pirate'd, Am I a fan of XXX, XXX movie club'd, retarded spam shit from everyone! I hate Facebook due to this. I hate it so much.

I chose Myspace because I have a profile on there and not Facebook. When I moved cross-country I made a profile so I could keep in touch with my east coast friends, and now that I moved back to the east coast I have my AZ friends on there to keep in touch with me.
I think the reason I don't think it sucks is because my profile is set to private, I don't blog about needlessly emo drama crap, I don't post chain bulletins, and I genuinely do talk to everyone on my friends list consistently. It's been a handy tool for keeping in touch with people since I'm not really a phone chatter.
On the other hand I CAN see why it could suck.. people who only make profiles to post half naked pouty lip pics of themselves and gather the most friends for their friends list even if they don't know them..
And I hate people that send out chain bulletins..

My wife uses myspace.
My brother is a facebook and myspace whore.

A higher percentage of people have those same qualities on facebook than myspace. Especially because on facebook your profile is automatically private to anyone outside of your networks or people you specifically allow through interaction.

I like Facebook because the blue-and-white soothes me, and the constantly changing backgrounds/background muzak/blinking things on MySpace piss me off.

That's cool.. I know a couple of my friends are on Facebook and Myspace. Unless everyone I talk to gets on Facebook, however, I probably won't bother changing.

I hate people that post 8 billion pointless surveys (which are always about stuff about the person that's so pointless that even the person filling out the survey probably doesn't give a shit) all in a row, or people that post bulletins whining about people not commenting their pics or something equally gay.
Just shut the fuck up. Asswipes.

Agreed, bigtime.
Luckily most of my friends have common sense and realize I don't give a fuck what their name spelled backwards with all the vowels replaced with consonants and their astrological sign is.
There's always the one self-deluded person though.. and I usually end up deleting them.

Exactly. I get maybe 1 spam message a week on myspace, and on facebook with maybe a 10th of the people friended, I get bombarded incessantly with shit like that.

Yea. It really is annoying. And there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. Unlike MySpace where I can stop retarded spam friend addings. The bullentin boards are annoying though. I wish I could wipe them out. I clicked one on my sister's profile and it was like...
SEND THIS TO 17 MOTHER FUCKERS OR YOU WILL DIE AND I'LL RAPE YOUR MOTHER!
I was like, man shit, I don't even got 17 friends...
Myspace is better imho since you can make it look and feel how you want.
Facebook is like, ''you have 10011 new notifications!!''
''Marc just looked at johns quiz''
''Sarah just posted 'Hi' on Hannas page''
''John just looked in the mirror''
''You got poked by louis!!''
''Andrew put on a shirt''
''Vicki is daydreaming''
''You were bitten by James' Vampire''
''Ray glanced at you''
''Sarah just yawned''
''This is a fucking waste of time''
''Jim is asleep''
''Vicki looked at Marc''
''Adam hates fish''
''Holly just joined the group 'I love facebook!!'''
''Adam commented on your photo...'Adam = ''lol''....'''
''Andrew feels tired''
''Dave quit Facebook''

Although Facebook was a lot better before they let anyone join. I appreciated the elitism they showed in not allowing non-college students join.

I tried Facebook and I didn't understand the fascination. I tried the applications and would do quizzes and such, and that was entertaining, but after a while, I would have rather seen something else. Also most of my friends that I want to keep in touch with use Myspace so I didn't find many people on Facebook that I knew.
My god one person added at least a dozen applications a week and would invite everyone to them. Yikes.

What I like about Facebook is that I can block all of those annoying add-ins that people use. With Myspace it's all loaded automatically when I view their profile.
Although somewhat contradictory in nature, I like the way Myspace profiles can be customized much eaiser than facebook's. in other words, I like the HTML customization but hate the embeds (for Myspace)

I use Facebook because of sheer numbers. It's about the only way I bother even attempting to stay in touch with anyone from college.
200+ connections of Facebook vs 6 connections on MySpace. Not a tough call. That number probably varies depending on what school you went to and how long ago you graduated.

I like girls :)
I'm partial to myspace because I joined the service first. I can access facebook directly on my blackberry, so I started up an account and reconnected with some friends from college. They're both pretty sweet as far as relieving temporary boredom and keeping in contact.
I'm a myspace person. My school got onto the facebook bandwagon late so everyone already established themselves on myspace by the time they let us register. Also like Drayal mentioned about I don't need to know everytime someones who has a facebook account takes a shit.

Myspace took the idea from facebook and you still deal with updates regarding your friends there.
You can deselect everyone and get 0 friend updates.

Facebook, hands down. The uniform layout on Facebook makes it much more visually organized than Myspace.
I can't stand most of the apps either. I just ignore pretty much all of them. But the Wall more than makes up for that...really easy way to keep in touch with friends from college. (Penn was one of the early Facebook launch schools, so I got introduced to that before Myspace.)

LiveJournal (http://www.livejournal.com) plz.
MySpace is full of crazy shit and way too busy for me. Unfortunately, I have an account there, so I can keep up with three people...
Facebook is a tad better, with a cleaner layout, less flashy-doodaa-craptastic shit... and it seems like it's only going to get better from what I've seen of the dev previews. I still can't stand all the application-invitations things... but I just have it tell me I have 100 million people wanting me to install various applications. I'm trying to train the "front page" feed-thingy to only show me things that I want to know, not what one of my friends just added to their castle or that another friend just found an easter egg in someone else's profile.

Livejournal is useless as a networking site.
I wonder whatever happened to friendster or orkut

FaceBook allows me to have decent private messages going on with whom were once older Alumni; crazy enough to make accounts during scholarly stages in their e-life where that information prolly shouldn't have been flipped so wantonly.
I don't feel like I'm cutting corners in getting faster answers and ass-kissing through the FaceBook medium though. I use those particular sub-assistant profs being on FaceBook as validation. Plus they've really hooked me up with early grade answers and extra credit questions fielded way faster than through the university's webmail.
I don't know if that's morally right or wrong. Or middlin'. With all the extra teeny-bopper appz flying burning holes in my retinas every which way, it makes it seem that private information on FaceBook could become that more sensitive, and subsequently unprofessional. Which I'm pissed as hell about. Because that was a fucking awesome advantage. Bah.
I doubt I'll have too many other university superiors telling me "shout them a holler/get in touch with you later" and use "FaceBook" in the same sentence for much longer, if at all.

Livejournal is useless as a networking site.
That depends on who you're trying to network with.
For me, LiveJournal is a sleeker, eaiser-to-use, faster, and cleaner than both MySpace and FaceBook... and I can still network with all the people I want to who have or know about LJ.

Bobmuhthol
03-07-2008, 08:10 PM
I don't know if they updated the compatibility (I'm sure they have by now), but when I tried it the sites I tried to view looked terrible, and in other instances some sites simply wouldn't load at all because Firefox didn't have the proper plugin capability. It also pisses me off that I try to Ctrl+O and it brings up an Open File dialog.
I haven't had Firefox on my computer for a couple years, so I don't doubt that they've made the necessary adjustments. I don't feel entirely inclined to try it out again, though.
