Taking 12 swings to kill a dinky little thrak with a 3x claidhmore, or the sheer number of dodges and evades it got off, take your pick.

It has never taken me more than 23 attempts to get a best in the past. From what I know, conventional wisdom puts the average around 20 attempts. I'd be interested if any other similarly skilled forger has seen similar numbers.

Those 40 extra hafts = an extra hour and a half in the forge

Yeah thrak outright dodged me 7 times, and mants die in like one hit even though they are older.

Latrinsorm

Manticores have lower DS and worse armor than thraks, of course they're easier to kill.

As for the EBP, thraks can go to stance defensive too.

AestheticDeath
03-30-2008, 06:02 PM
The thrak wasn't defensive swinging at 100, and the armor is negligible, DS was as well

There is just a huge dodge/parry difference between the two.

These hits would have been 28 + 3 = 31 points higher, which with the crit weighting would have been a rank 9 crit max instead of rank 7.

This hit would have been high enough to get the crit weighting to kick in against a manticore's combination of DS and armor instead of being a nick.
There is just a huge dodge/parry difference between the two. There may or may not be, but you have no empirical grounds to claim there is.

The dock's planks are dull and weathered from the salt spray of many seasons. Northward beyond the massive sea gates, moonlit clouds drift by, silhouetted against the sky over the dark waters of Darkstone Bay. You feel less confident than before.

The point is you don't know what stance the thrak was in for any given swing.

There may or may not be, but you have no empirical grounds to claim there is.

Actually I do? I swing faster than thraks, there is no way it was stancing and no way it could swing at 100 in defensive.

And you could easily see that they dodge better even from that small sample. If you want to be an argumentative dick, so be it. But you could go test them for 1000 swings yourself if you want to try and disprove it.

I swing faster than thraks, there is no way it was stancing and no way it could swing at 100 in defensive. On 3 separate occasions you attacked multiple times without the thrak attacking. Even if thraks were governed by the same stancing mechanics as player characters, you wouldn't be able to support your claim.
And you could easily see that they dodge better even from that small sample. You could if you don't have a firm grasp of statistics.
If you want to be an argumentative dick, so be it.You'll recall that you're the first person who started arguing with anyone. I just made a simple statement that you felt the need to try and nit-pick (poorly, c.f. your lack of response to DS/armor analysis).

Looks to me I was swinging right after he did, no fucking way he stanced in between. So he is still dodging insanely well in offensive.

I have more proof than you do, your just saying its not concrete and being a snob. OMG you didn't have 1000 test swings. It may not be 100% proof, but it is a start and easy to make assumptions based on.

Kinda like when I mentioned my OTF findings loosely in a conversation and someone tried to say I was full of shit cause it was only two weeks of hunting, and then grepped their files and found out I was VERY close to what he had for several years worth of records.

If you want to say I am wrong, or something then go test and prove it.

You were offering very slim negligible reasons for why the thrak was harder to kill. They can go defensive, but I dont think they did. They almost never turtle unless you have a DS much higher than their AS. At best he was stuck in advanced stance.

Looks to me I was swinging right after he did, no fucking way he stanced in between.People have seen creatures stancing in between TWC swings, let alone a measureable time interval later.
I have more proof than you do, your just saying its not concrete and being a snob. OMG you didn't have 1000 test swings. You don't need 1000 swings, you just need some good ones. You haven't controlled for any variables whatsoever, drawing any mechanical conclusion from your post would be unjustified.
If you want to say I am wrong, or something then go test and prove it.I specifically said it could be the case, "but you have no empirical grounds" to claim it. The burden's not on me to do your work to prove your statement.
You were offering very slim negligible reasons for why the thrak was harder to kill.I've offered very tangible numbers, in refutation of which you've offered nothing but a repetition of your previous statements. That you find it easy to draw conclusions based on your information says something about you, not your information.
