Psinet Updated

[Nakiro]

Psinet has been updated to include Stormfront compatibility. It will no longer not load settings, and also has some advanced features.

For those unfamilar with this device, it is a program that runs when the Wizard or Stormfront executes. It acts through it creating a gamewide chat net that is unmonitored by Simutronics.

It also has several other functions, such as typo correction, world-wide marketing, and a few others. The possibilities are near endless....

Once logged in, if you want to use the chat function put TUNE OOC, then CHAT <message>. NOTE: Chating requires no RT.

You can thank Jamus if you're satisfied, and of course there is no fee to use.

Since I don't cast, the spell typo helpers don't help me much, but they look like they'd be useful. However, I do like the IGNORE option for one reason. It starts with Bob and ends with thol.

Um how do you get it to work once you have it installed?

Log in using AutoSGE or Simu's SGE.

Once it is installed, you'll have to launch the game from the SGE or the AutoSGE. Generally it won't work launching from the if you're using a browser other than Mozilla or Netscape, particularly Internet Explorer.

You should get some messaging that looks like this if installed and launched correctly:

Your mind extends outward and links with the PsiNet.
The PsiNet embraces you, Nakiro.
You don't sense any messages on the PsiNet directed to you.
You determine that you are not tuned in to any channels.

From here, you can TUNE OOC to turn on the global chat client aspect. Then CHAT whatever you want to talk about.

Recommended options include:

PSINET OPTIONS SHOWWINDOW OFF to hide the Psinet window
PSINET OPTIONS KEEPALIVE ON to auto reconnect when dropped

Ah ok I had been using the Ultimate entry thing that stores account info for multiple accounts. I'll install the SGE real fast, I'd use that normally except it doesn't stay in the damn toolbar when you install it and then reset so..

He has also coded a really neat feature for empaths. Makes healing yourself uber-ly easy.

Has anyone else been having problems connecting to psinet recently? My character keeps trying to link automatically and failing each attempt. I have been linked and did nothing to unlink so am at a loss here. When I type 'psinet link' in game I get this error message:

For those unaware, psinet has recently been updated to be 90% stormfront compatiable, and it now has a great new set of features, including alias, magic, and count.

Alias:

Define a set of commands to be executed in a single command, or redefine a command as something else.

ex: alias set pwn the edine=cast 1106 edine

Magic:

Autotracking of timed self-cast spells, down to the second! While this feature works on outside spells, it will assume the minimum duration, but the user may redefine the duration manually.

ex:

Usage: MAGIC [SET | REMOVE | RESET | HELP]

Future possible features include a LUCK feature, which would take an average of your die rolls. A modification to EXP to track your absorbing rate, and several other suggestions too!

Note: While the server is currently down, the MAGIC feature will still work. Simply start the game after installing the client, do a SKILL FULL, and then cast and use!

The server is down, but you can still download and run the executable, which will give you non-server features, like alias, count, and magic.

Syberus, I highly recommend Jamus' autoSGE that is on the website as well. I use it now and wonder why SIMU releases such crap... then i remember its SIMU. Like you I used the USGE until i tried out Jamus' version.

About the PSInet... My kudos go out to Jamus on a wonderful job. Its almost too easy. Even without the net tonight just to have the features is amazing. Here are a few of my favorite features...
