Anyone else on them? Specifically Clonidine Hydrochloride and Metoprolol. Those are most likely the generic names.

Avoid drinking alcohol (lolz).

My Mom was on metroprolol for a while. It didn't seem to mess her up like some of the other stuff did.

What about them?

Aside from rebound hypertension if suddenly you stop taking it (lots of drugs have rebound symptoms) I can't think of anything on the top of my head that's super bad about them.

Metoprolol is a Beta-Blocker. It slows down your heart-rate and can give some exercise intolerance. Which is sorta a bad side effect because most doctors want you exercising as a lifestyle modification to lower your BP. C

Clonidine works in the brain and can do a multitude of things. For BP, it lowers the resistance of your peripheral blood vessels making it easy for blood to move through.

That is an interesting choice of medications to choose. Have you been on others? Did your doctor let you know why he chose those drugs over something like a diuretic (hydrocholorothiazide) or an ACE inhibitor (lisinopril). I am sure he had good reasons.

An Asprin a day ftw. Supposedly thins the blood.
Beta-blockers for blood pressure? That's a bit of a serious option isn't it?

Yes, an aspirin (81mg) a day does thin the blood, but not everyone should be on it. Age, health condition, and a multitude of other factors depend on it.

B-blocker aren't a serious option. Choosing and dosing blood pressure medicine is different person to person. B-blockers do decrease the heart's workload. If the person has a weakened heart, or is at risk for other heart problems, it could be a great option.

All I know is I've gone from 160+/120ish to 120/80 on them and don't feel like my chest and head are going to explode anymore. I'm just dead tired and fall asleep almost as soon as I put my head down.

I've only been on them since last Saturday... they kept me hospitalized for 3 days. I take 2 of the Clondines a day breakfast and evening and 3 times daily for the meto one.

I'm normally bouncing off the walls.

That's to be expected.

Clonidine has been used to fight off amphetamine side effects, so drowsiness sounds about right. Talk to your physician if its unbearable for you, as there are other options out there.

I'm on benazepril and amlodipine for blood pressure.

I'm about to go on a third soon if my bp doesn't stay down.

You mentioned you "lift weights" and although I could bench you under the weight bench itself, don't fuck around with muscle workouts -- And every time you feel the urge to, hop on the fucking treadmill itself, bitch.

...

That is, if you like being the opposite of dead.

I'm on Lisinopril, Lasix and Spironolact... but then, I'm a cardiac patient. Heavy duty stuff, but my BP went from 210/110 to 110/65.

90% of my time at the gym is on a treadmill. The other 10% is spent smoking.

Kiss of death, man, kiss of death. Takes 10 frickin' years to get that shit off your list of 'risk factors'. Last cig October 17, 1991, and I STILL am resisting the urge....

I must really be one of the lucky ones. I smoked for 12 years, and I quit in October 2006. I haven't had one urge since the last cigarette I smoked. The smell alone from my fiance's cigs makes me nauseous. I sometimes do miss that feeling in the pit of my chest from the first big drag after a big meal, but not enough to even make me think about smoking again.

Every time you have the urge to smoke a stogey, light up a J instead. That should probably cure your smoking problem, lewlz...

This is bad advice: Take four pieces of 4mg Nicorette chewing gum (orange) and place them in your mouth. Chew. Don't smoke while you are doing this. Have lots of money ready to support a Nicorette habit. Your lungs will be able to breath. Take advantage of that. This is extremely bad advice in general and especially fucked for anything longer term than 2 days.

Just a warning if you have any diabetes/sugar issues. My Mom said metroprolol masked her hypogylcemia.

Basic, basic, basic circulatory function > finessing Metroprolol for hypoglycemia.

Um.

:wtf: did you to in order to get so fucked up, Sean2/Xyelin?
