So, my home computer got pwned.

It's time to build a new one, it looks like. I was just wondering where would the best place to shop around for parts (as far as prices and deals).

I heard Newegg.com might be good, but who knows. What do you all suggest?

Newegg, and ZipZoomFly should cover nearly all of your needs... Usually they're the best price shipped (and for the few dollars in total you might save, you have to deal w/ shaddy merchants or having a fuckton different orders vs one big one).

You may already know this but... get some Artic Silver as well, it's extremely cheap and even if you're not overclocking it is worth having, most MBs control fan speed based on the current temp, so better heat transfer means quieter, and less "abused"... It's like putting good motor oil in a car, no reason not to.

Little zip ties are well worth the investment as well.

Fry's if they have one in your area.

I always forget about them because I don't have one local... their site has reasonable deals on occasion too... for system builders, most frequently hard drives, and depending on if you were planning on RAIDing this could be well worth the "hassle" of multiple shops.

I couldn't agree with these statements more. I wish I had thought of that the first time around :-P
