Er, okay so far(fingers crossed) i'd have to say that this is the first good christmas i've had since..er..well ever. My mother, who I haven't seen in years just sent me a package with cookies in it. And that's just completely the opposite of everything I just expected to happen. I'm still going to be spending christmas at home alone, but now it seems a bit warmer. Just wanted to share my joy with you all...but not my cookies. those are mine.

My mom got me some fancy soaps, some lotion... some awesome fuzzy socks... a toothbrush... she fixed a necklace of mine that has a lot of sentimental value to me, that was the best part. She also knitted me a bunch of decorative pillows.

My grandma gave me 50 bucks, I should call her and thank her yet.

Dunno w hat else I"m getting, as I'll be out of town.

Hmm I haven't recieved any gifts yet but I think the two favorites I am giving is

My guy is getting a Real Ultimate Power tee-shirt. Yes, that is the ninja website and he loves it.

And my grandma is getting her first pedicure ever at one of the nicest spas in our town.

All the other things I got were pretty basic like that swan lake barbie and ken for my sister, and those bioncle things for my brother. Clothes, etc.

The funniest thing I got, was for my step-dad, and I realized how well he looks like a lumber jack..and he's a total mountain folk, and I got him a gunrack....for his pickup truck. God Bless Amercia.

I wonder if you can fit a gun rack in a Hyundai.

You know the pictures on that page of the little kid trying to commit seppuku by shoving a frisbee down his throat?

He's my friend's kid brother.

I just got my mom one of these for christmas.

I've got the necklace. My best friend gave it to me at my dad's funeral, and it broke at Simucon (stupid drunk assholes tearing at my clothes). Anyway... I think it's awesome.

I usually do baking for gifts during the holidays. My wife is still insistent upon outdoing her siblings for sheer value of gifts and I think she's insane.

Fudge, cookies, brownies and such are what I give and I always request that people donate to a charity instead of getting me a cool DVD or something. If they want to give me a gift, give me something you think is me.

I'm also accused of being cruel to my kids. After the wife's side of the family bombards us with Barbies and noise makers, and my side of the family stuffs us with socks and underwear, the wife and I have the two munchkins choose a certain number of gifts they want to keep and urge them to donate the rest to toys for tots or some other organization.

The mother in-law accuses me of being a heartless bastard because of the practice and threatens not to give anything each season because "I'll just make them give it away". I'm ruining Christmas for my kids.

My eldest only cried the first year we urged her to do it and has since happily done it without asking every year since. My youngest thinks it is a normal thing to do and wants to give everything away.

I think character is the best gift I get year in and year out from my kids.

What a nice tradition.

And your mother-in-law certainly lives up to the stereotype.

I think that's wonderful Tsa'ah! It's sad your mother-in-law doesn't see that.

I'm glad Tsa'ah isn't my dad.

But we never had insane christmasses with tons of stuff, we'd get one big present and the rest would generally be stuff we need.

I that mystery Santa thing for this place. I guess it's for a PIP shelter and sometimes a Nursing home. So I just get them what ever they list and it's not all that expensive. My family is huge so they can have their other kids buy them something.

P.S. I hate my family so they deserve crap.

My son is always wanting to play fight. He's also very hyper so I got him a little kids size punching bag and boxing gloves for christmas. I can't wait til he opens them.

Also one of the best things so far thats happened is my son adores my dad. Being the only grandchild and all he gets really spoiled. One day my dad called from his cell phone but didn't want my son to know so when he asked who it was I told him it was Santa calling to ask if he was a good boy. My son of course wanted to talk to him so my dad disguised his voice and acted like Santa. I just thought that was the most awesome thing to see the reaction of my son.

I am also currently doing the christmas goodies thing I've been cooking all day and now up to 6 pounds of fudge! Talk about a sugar rush.

Alright today my impending doom grows one step closer. I have approximately....200 dollars to spend on christmas presents for about two million people....any ideas or should I just give up because it's hopeless.

I mean suggestions that I WON'T get lynched for.

I mean, seriously, i'm not bad off..just a couple bad months hit me at the WRONG time of the year. I've got 600 dollars due this sunday and 200 dollars in my bank account. I really hope I get my christmas bonus before then. But if it means getting evicted from my apartment I WILL buy a present for every person on my list. These are the bare minimum people that I feel that are important enough that I need to show them that I care. Because they've shown that they care about me. I absolutely NEED to do as much as possible this christmas, because I could never afford stuff before and now I can and I feel like i've let people down if I can't do anything. Is there some place that will like..give me like a month-long loan or something..like..no questions asked?

Learn to bake man.

I send about 20 tins out each year for around 350 bucks. Most of that is shipping. Last year I had a niece throw a fit over the phone because I sent her a few toys she had wanted, and not cookies and fudge like her mom and dad.

Don't fall into the "must spend money" trap.

If you can't learn to cook in a few days time, then go to big lots, dollar general or some place like that.

Candles, decorative candle holders, figurines. To kids, toys are toys. Guys... can o nuts.

200 bucks can go far, you just have to swallow a bit of pride and realize that those close to you will recognize the sincerity.

Neff, I think it is absolutely wonderful that your mom sent you cookies after you have not seen her in so long! I cannot imagine how great that must have felt! :D

Tsa`ah, your idea for your children is great! Not only do they get the joy of receiving, they also enjoy the gift of giving to those who are not so fortunate. Kudos to you! :D

HarmNone gives checks. My family likes money. Go figure!

Heh. Just take the gift for what it is and do not second guess it, Neff. If she follows it with a request or demand, that will be the time to question her motives. ;)

No gifts yet. Hoping for a new PS2 (my current one has been on the fritz for months).

Work gave me a gift, a nice 9.41% raise (promotion included) and a manditory vacation during the holidays for most of it's staff. No work for me from 12/24 - 1/4.

Was hoping to get Linkin Park tickets for the VA show here in January for my little brother for X-mas, but it's hella sold out, and E-bay tickets are going for $270+ for 2 tickets.
