View Full Version : Update on Aetheri

At his request, I wanted to update everyone concerning Aetheri's player.

From what he tells me, he was taken to the ER for lithium poisoning to the point where his appendix will be removed tomorrow morning. He wants everyone to know that he should be alright, and expects to be released by week's end.

Unfortunately, our conversation was short because of a low phone battery, so that's all I got.

Lithium? Jesus. I never OD'd on Depakote. He did this deliberately? Or was it adverse?

Wow. Wish him the best for me.

I had my platelet count drop to 30 per on Depakote. That's been one of the only super-easily-identifiable side effects I've ever had from a psychotropic drug.

It did as much shit for me at 2000mg as it did at 0. The only three people I've known in my life who've been on high lithium dosages were always bragging about being able to instantly drink anyone under the table.

Mood stabilizers are BOB SAGET'S SHIT. ALL THERE IS, IS LEXAPRO. SOMETIMES PAIRED WITH ZOLOFT. Argh.

I've read about that, Stanely.

Unfortunately, I also eye any SSRI, SNRI, or NRI warily.

I think judgement on how addictive, amongst other negative (and positive) qualities an FDA-approved medication possess is based solely on its half-life. Whether these effects are psychoactive/psychotropic or addictive is why metabolites should be keyed into the equation no matter wh4tz0rz.

I wouldn't say that it is based just on half-life.

Euphoria and the neural reward pathways that are created in the brain (addiction) also play a huge role.

Look at the half-life of amphetamine based drugs and diamorphine. One is legal, the other is not, but one has a vastly larger half-life in the blood stream.

Yeeep. The worst thing I can think of is being hit in the face with non-metabolized primary effects and then kicked in the teeth with secondary physiological infirmity (not even beginning to be related to withdrawal, at that :()

It's the reason why people need to educate themselves before taking any sort of substance for medicinal or recreational purpose.

Lithium is generally found in anti-depressants and bipolar disorders drugs. So either he was ODing/had too strong a prescription on that or someone tried to kill him.

When reducing pseudoephedrine into crystal methamphetamine, the Birch reduction methods calls for large amounts of lithium strips.

Maybe he was doing that and got hungry part way through the process?

Actually my body was absorbing too much of the lithium, which lead to the levels reaching beyond toxic levels. This caused my appendix to reach a critical mass, and I had it removed yesterday morning.

In any case, I'm alive and recovering at my parents house for a few weeks. Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Feel better dude. My prayers in your general direction. They're kind of unholy, but it's the best I can do.

Izalude, what led to the poisoning?

My cells absorbed the more lithium than they should have, which elevated my white blood cell count dramatically. I had gone to my psychiatrist because I had a breakdown on Wednesday. He perscribed me 300mg of lithium carbonate 2x per day.

I took as directed, and noticed that my mood leveled out, and things were going well... Except, I woke up on Monday morning with what felt like a really bad hangover, and had some pains in my lower abdomen. Mind you, I hadn't consumed any alcohol since my birthday a few weeks ago. I called out sick from work, and went to the doctor's office who called an ambulence sending me immediately to the hospital.

I probably shouldn't have been on lithium in the first place. I'm already on a tricyclic anti-depressant called Limbitrol, which had worked wonders for me. I'm just glad to be home.

Why wasn't this thread labelled "Update on Izalude?" I'd have known who it was about, then, and be sufficiently plussed.

My rage against doctors who prescribe lithium in a ham-handed, idiotic fashion not withstanding... Sorry to hear that happened to you and glad you're recovered.

You guys are all completely misunderstanding here. From what I understand, he had Evanescence's new hit single "Lithium" playing on a sixteen hour loop, and it simply annihilated his immune system. Nonetheless, I wish him a sound recovery... hearing that much Amy Lee is bound to destroy the best of men.
