Would any of you know the verbs to interact with the herblore tomes? I seem to recall that they were pretty odd. Has been forever since I fooled with mine and now I seem to have forgotten how.

think it's something like flip to turn the page, and just read for the room info. Have to be on the last page for what's in the room.

I remember the process on how to use it, just not the verb you have to use. As I recall it was a pretty weird one and rather unintuitive. It is not flip, turn or anything like that.

Really frustrating.

>glance

>open tome

>read tome

You are unable to sense any woth flower in the area.

>turn tome
You fumble around with your stiff leather tome.

>flip tome
You flip the stiff leather tome up into the air with no regard for the fragile state of the ancient pages.

I tried all the ones that come to mind. I remember when she was showing me how to use the damn thing that I thought "damn, that is a really weired verb to use, better write that down." I have since lost my post-it note.

>look tome

Carefully stitched on the weathered cover of the tome are the words, "Herblore of Kharam Dzu"

>open tome

I just made a verbs script using those from the Sylvanfair site, http://www.sylvanfair.com/library/Table/search_verbs.htm, and came up with nothing.

Anyone have a better verb list I could parse into another script?

>read tome
Perhaps if the stiff leather tome were open, you would be able to read it.
>open tome

CHALLENGE {PLAYER} {STOP|MERCY}

To toggle your ability to be challenged:
CHALLENGE {ON|OFF}

Challenging may be seen as a way to settle disputes to which both parties
agree. Challenge rules other than death will often protect you from dying.
However, if you die as a result of a challenge, pressing charges against
your opponent will be difficult, no matter what rules were chosen.

LOCAL LAWS AND RESTRICTIONS STILL APPLY. You may challenge someone in town
but if you kill them, you might well be arrested.

Using this verb will help staff to know which player-caused deaths are
consensual. If you kill or attack someone without their consent, you may be
dealt with in the manner set forth in POLICY 4.

If you receive an injury during the course of a challenge, empaths and clerics
will not receive experience for healing you for a period of time afterwards.

it's like turn page in tome, or something similar. I just can't check while I'm at work.

If I remember correctly, it's "turn 1" to go to page 1, "turn 50" to go to page 50, etc.

try putting it on the last page and rubbing it... if I remember right, it should glow for a second then you can read it and see what herbs/plants generate in that room

try putting it on the last page and rubbing it... if I remember right, it should glow for a second then you can read it and see what herbs/plants generate in that room

You don't have to rub the tome to see what's in the room. If you rub the tome when it's on a certain plant's page, you get a bonus (don't know how much) to foraging that plant.

For example, if you're on page 50 (or whatever the last page in the tome is), it'll show you what all grows in the room you're standing in (that the tome knows about). If you than turn to, say, acantha leaf, in the tome (and it's foragable in the room you're in), you can rub the tome and you'll get a bonus to foraging/finding acantha leaf in that room (and perhaps other rooms).

I believe herb tomes have "charges" like other enhancives have, but since I haven't rubbed my (River's Rest) tome more than once (after the last Foehn's where I got it), I don't know how many charges, or how much of a bonus the charge(s) give.

If I remember correctly, it's "turn 1" to go to page 1, "turn 50" to go to page 50, etc.

>open tome
You carefully open your stiff leather tome.
>turn 1
Turn what?
>turn 50
Turn what?
>turn page 1
What were you referring to?
>turn to page 1
Please rephrase that command.

turn volume to 1?

>turn volume to one
What were you referring to?
>turn tome to 1
What were you referring to?
>turn volume to 1
What were you referring to?

I know that the verb was not turn. I do remember that it was some wonky off the wall verb because it struck me as silly when I first got the tome, I just can't remember what it was.

A) give tome to nilandia or belnia

B) wait for nilandia or belnia to put the information on virilneus's roomdata web site

C) when they give it back, ask them what the terminology is

or

A) Ask Nilandia or Belnia what the terminology is.

or

A) Sell the tome before RoomData ruins its value

When I got the tome from Gothique she also gave me the Teras Foraging website files that she had posted, and took down after the "incident."

The main reason I am playing with the tome now is to complete the site, Greymist has not been done, and then make it available to everyone. I know that I will effectively be destroying the item's value on the open market, but then again, I don't ever intend to sell it anyway. I got it more for what it is rather than what it does.

Nilandia sent me pretty much the same information that everyone else has, but not the specific verb, so I am still in limbo...doing an Assist now, I am sure that they will tell me to post on the officials. This sucks.

I can play more with my tome tonight, if you need. I can also see about contacting Gothique to see if she still remembers the verbs to interact with the tome. I'll admit, it has me stumped, too.

HowMayINotHelpYou asks, "Good evening, Durfin. I hear you're going to kill your herblore tome?"

You agree with HowMayINotHelpYou.

You say, "Quite slowly and painfully."

You grin evilly.

You quietly whisper to HowMayINotHelpYou, "I remember that the verb was odd, even wrote it down...but have lost my note."

HowMayINotHelpYou nods.

J>turn tome
You fumble around with your stiff leather tome.
J>flip tome
You flip the stiff leather tome up into the air with no regard for the fragile state of the ancient pages.
J>swear tome
You grunt out an eloquent description of a red-lacquered stiff leather tome's emblazoned with a yellow flame beardless cowardice.
J>
HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Well you may need to actually make a post on the Info category of the marketplace."

You stare at nothing in particular.

You say, "I did that already."

You say, "Lots of people offering useless guesses."

You recite:

""try turning it""

HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Really? I'm surprised Belnia didn't hop right on that one." - That cracked me up.

You grumble.

HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Well I'll ask and see if anyone has an answer for it, but I think the GMs are busy working on something."

HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Either that or they just hate me."
J>
HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Just a moment."

J>rub tome
You rub the stiff leather tome in your hand.
J>peer tome
You peer closely at a red-lacquered stiff leather tome emblazoned with a yellow flame, but see nothing of interest. Maybe if you examined it closely, you would see more.
J>
J>
HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Well, someone took a look at it, and it appears that the item's working just fine."

You stare at nothing in particular.
J>
You say, "I know it is working fine."

You say, "There is no reason for it to not be working."
J>
HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where we can't just toss the verbs out there."

You ask, "What?"

You say, "I used every, and I mean EVERY, verb in the lists ."

You say, "This is not some puzzle to be figured out that no one is going to reveal."

A Grimswarm orc pillager just arrived.

You say, "This is an item with specific properties that was disclosed when it was originally auctioned."
J>
You put a red-lacquered stiff leather tome emblazoned with a yellow flame in your dwarven flask case.

You remove a perfect dwarven-crafted mithril mattock with a knotwork carved ivory haft from in your invar harness.

[Killed Grimswarm pillager]

You say, "Now, where were we."

You say, "Right."

You say, "How to use this should not be a secret."

You say, "Telling me you don't know how is fine, but to say you can't tell me how does not."
>
HowMayINotHelpYou says, "I spoke with a GM and was told that you'll need to experiment with the tome to find out how to use it."

You say, "I have been experimenting with it all day."

You say, "I went throug everything that you have posted given the use of the "verb list A" command."

You say, "Not a single one of them worked."

You ask, "So now I am supposed to start making up words?"

HowMayINotHelpYou says, "If you're not getting a favorable response from the information section of the message boards you might also try tossing out a feeler on the ranger or alchemy boards. I know there are a lot of people that frequent those sections that have used the herblore tomes."

You say, "I'll take a referral please."
>
HowMayINotHelpYou nods.

HowMayINotHelpYou says, "Just one moment while I write that up."

====

GM shows up:

GM NotGonnaTellYa says, "I took a look at it prior to visiting you, and everything works fine. It has several verbs that are all working. I'm afraid we can't really tell you which ones..."

GM NotGonnaTellYa says, "Well, in instances such as this, we can't really offer practical help beyond to say that the answers are there, and it's all experimentation at this point. Sorry we can't do more."

You say, "Next time label such items as "Teras Herblore Puzzle book" rather than a tome?"

I happen to have this now.

a red-lacquered stiff leather tome emblazoned with a yellow flame from in your grey cloak

Carefully stitched on the weathered cover of the tome are the words, "Herblore of Kharam Dzu."
